Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Jerry Hairston DESTROYS the Cardinals, Gaslamp Ball awakens from crazy nightmare-like Open Thread

If you were in the Open Thread for any amount of time tonight, you noticed that everything was in italics after new Gaslamp Baller zombiecow (welcome!) said:

I’m gonna go make a frozen pizza, and it’s going to be awesome.

Somehow, zombiecow left the italics open and everybody was subjected to an extended inner dialogue or a nightmare dream sequence from some random novel.

In any case, it kinda maybe got fixed after I hid/deleted the offending comment and a short while later, the Padres managed to win in extra innings on a Jerry Hairston walkoff home run.

COINCIDENCE!?!

In any case, WE WON A SERIES AGAINST THE CARDINALS!!! I know that probably makes us sound like the little kid who finally scores a basket playing one-on-one with his older, taller brother, but still. That's the kind of thing that only happens during a Really Good Season.

The Cards made so many mistakes on the basepaths.

Getting caught stealing in the first. Getting thrown out at home in the first. Rasmus getting caught in the rundown in the top of the 11th. Molina getting tagged out at 3rd in the 11th.

The Pads were lucky to take that one

Before that weird double play, the Cards had winning odds of around 88%.

But swings like that are what make it a good game.

MLB.TV

Ruined the end of the game for me.
I went to the library to do homework, came back, took a nap, and went to get food, and by the time I was done, the game was still not over. So I thought, “Oh good! I can watch from the beginning! I’ll just avoid twitter and such until I finish watching the game.” I get to the top of the 2nd when all of a sudden, it freezes and sends me to 13th. And it wasn’t even to see the ball leave the yard. It was to hear Dick say “Padres win blah blah blah” cut to black.
MLB.TV is going to hear about this in the morning.

I’m tired…but I have no complaints.

Hi...

Just wanted to say hello.

Was at the game last night with my mom in law, we left after the 11th (she’s not a big fan of Mr. Bell at the moment).

Good game, am going again with work, hopefully we can get the sweep and I will be drunk enough so the hideous throwback uniforms don’t affect me too much.

And, as I grew up watching cricket, where games last five days and then are a draw, baseball is fast moving ;)

We tend to make 25-30 games a year, sat in the Premier Club E or G (at the back with MIL in a wheelchair).
