Dodgers beat Padres 4-1, 6th inning sloppy, no sweeping
Well the Padres failed to sweep the Dodgers and instead split the two game series. They had their opportunities in the 4th and 5th inning but just couldn't bring in the runs. Left a total of 8 men on base in the game.
Buddy Black chose not to have David Eckstein bunt runners on 1st and 2nd over and instead let him fly out. Adrian Gonzalez and Yorvit Torrealba struck out. Disappointing.
The wheels really came off in the 6th inning with the Dodgers scoring 3. Errors, wild pitches, missed cutoffs and hits. It was sloppy like Drama at a Nationals' game.
Matt Stairs is playing like he's older than Enberg..
Padres lose.
Things in the NL West are getting tighter than my jean shorts. The Dodgers move into second place 1 game behind the Padres and the Giants fall to 1.5 games back.

I really dig Venable in the leadoff spot,
the guys a dead red fastball hitter, and in that spot in the order, he’s sure to see plenty of those knee high fastballs.

Did anybody watch Postgame?
Jon thinks they mentioned the hair post and eastbay’s rant. True or false? He only saw the last 15 seconds.
They showed the pictures
and Bob mentioned about how it is player of the game, not padre of the game.
"Lies they are awesome music with an awesome name. Cheers to Heath Bell for having good taste." -Ketchup
I hope Bob still likes me
I was just pointing out things about the broadcasts I didnt like.
There are things I do like. The dislike outdid the like on that broadcast.
"Savvy Chicks Dig the Bullpen"
I don't see why they could call it player of the game, and still just have padres players
I mean, that do that here for the minor league team. They say player of the game, but it always goes to an Em.

I agree with you
But Channel 4 does not. At the very end, they said people were getting upset about it not always being Padres.I had other issues as well.
Last night the Player of the Game was actually the Padres fans that went to up to LA to the game.
Before the end of the show, Bob asked for his hair back, LOL.
"Savvy Chicks Dig the Bullpen"
Don't be.
Besides, the most important stuff was the Enberg part of the rant. Channel 4 needs to wake up and not be scared of criticizing a guy just because he’s a damn Hall of Famer. The viewers are pissed….take care of it.

How do you boycott Ch.4...when you still wanna watch
the games, but can’t stand listening to Dick. Muting doesn’t send a message, cause they don’t know the volume level of your TV. I feel like a hostage, because of my addiction to Padres Baseball.

We all do, son, we all do.
However, best part about this weekend is I don’t have to listen to Dick! I get to watch baseball on my television in HD. Thank God for interleague play.
And I guess I never really have to listen to Dick, seeing as how I can easily switch to the other teams feed at any time, but I refuse to (unless I can watch on tv), just in case THE Tony Gwynn decided to step into the booth. It makes my day when that happens!

I gotta say
If the Padres don’t lose, I can’t imagine giving a Padres player Player of the Game. It’s like, “Sure we lost 4-1, but here you go Adrian. Nice job being surrounded by losers.”
At the same time, not giving a player of the game just because the Padres lose is sour apples.
They mentioned the hair post

Hey GLB…

Good Series.
My question for you all is – are any GLB’ers planning on going on the Gaslamp Pub Crawl being organized by The Local next Saturday? I’ve gone the last 2 years and it is a great time! I would love to say hello to any Gaslamp-ballers who happen to go next weekend!
P.S. Beat those Mariners this weekend! Let’s go Pads!

Where to begin?
The 2010 Padres are the worst team to EVER be in first place on May 21st. Scoring double digit runs once per month this season is not going to keep the fans at bay. Trade Adrian. He is garbage 98% of the time since Howard got the big money. Cut Christ Young. Dude is done. This is like burning a roster spot on Mark Prior. (Is he still available?) Waive Matt Stairs. We MUST have someone playing rookie ball in Fort Wayne who can bat .098. I’ll do it for free if we need someone to hold a roster spot. Heaven knows we can’t spend a penny over 22 million. Tell me I am wrong, Padre fans! Talk some sense into me

No. No, and Yes.
The yes was in regards to getting rid of Stairs; you’d think there would only be escalators at this point.

No. No, and Yes.
Totally agree.
- Adrian is far and away the best hitting first baseman in the NL West. That is an advantage that the Pads need to keep this year in order to content with the rest of the division for the rest of the season.
- Chris Young has proven that, when healthy, he can be the best #2 starter in the NL West. It sucks that he’s on the DL now, but considering the chance that he could get healthy again this season, the Padres need to keep that card in their pocket for the rest of this year.
- Get Matt Stairs the frak out of there. Jeraine Dye is still out there, & Pat Burell too. Either one of those guys would be a much better PH or Interleague DH than Stairs…

+43 run differential is still 2nd best in the NL and 4th best in MLB. You are the most dim-witted dolt that has ever figured out how to work the internets.

LOL
I would say that resorting to childish name calling is a weak response, but then again, what kid knows “dim-witted dolt?” I don’t think the Pads are the “worst EVER” first place team, but I admit that the eye test isn’t favorable. A quarter of that +43 is from the home opener and the Padres are 1-4 against LA and 2-4 against Colorado. Luckily, they own the Giants. Anyway, let’s just enjoy being in first place. The Dodgers are as hot as they will get and they still haven’t caught us.

very interesting
our ’tec friend just last weekend was minimizing the importance of the Dodger sweep at Petco by intimating that it was valueless because the Padres were not a good team.

The NL West race is going to last all years.
None of these teams are significantly better than the others.

Let's look at the bright side
Over the span of 10 games of playing our NL rivals, the Padres has a .500 record. Had we lost 6 of the 10 games played, we would have a problem. Plus, we still control a one game lead over the Dodgers and a 1.5 game lead over the Giants. Not all is great (Blanks and Gwynn Jr. are slumping, Scott Harrison’s on the 15-day DL, our offense has been exposed as a lineup with occasional flares of power, but overall mediocre at best), but the games we’ve los haven’t been blowouts, and the combiation of our solid pitching rotaion (wih the absense of our Ace CY) and our stellar bullpen have kept us close in games. Let’s remember, virtually everyone left us for the cellar in the NL West and with us saying goodbye to Gonzo and/or Bell by the All-Star Break. Look a us now, we’re 24-17, in first place of our divison, and the conversation has begun to shift from San Diego being sellers at the break to becoming potential buyers.
Let’s stay positive and hope that guys like E-Cab and Venable (to name a few) begin to pick up the slack for this team.
