Padres clawed to death by Marlins, 10-1

Photo

Well, I hope everybody here isn't superstitious.  But let's face it, if you are a baseball fan than you've got to be superstitious.  That sure doesn't fair well for Gaslamp Ball's very own cats.  The infamous cat makes it's 2010 debut and what happens?  I don't know where to start?

Mat Latos showed more Growing Pains than Nick at Night.  Latos allowed 7 runs in 2 2/3's innings.

Josh Johnson hit as well as the entire Padres team, both with three hits.

Oh yeah, Johnson can also pitch; going the distance and completely shutting down the Padres hot bats (One meaningless run at the end of the game doesn't count).

Is this a reality check for our Padres?  Or just bad feline luck?

Why do even cats hate the Padres?

I just want to get paid to draw naked girls, is that so much to ask?

Padres hitting is young...

Josh Johnson was 15-5 last year and a damn good pitcher. Matt is young and still working things out.

Here's the good news.

Johnson and Nolasco (who we miss) are all they’ve got. The next two guys we face are nothing special. Average or worse. Garland and Correia are both better than they are. We’ve got a good shot at winning the next two games.

That IS good news.

Though… didn’t Anabel Sanchez throw a no-hitter within the last year or two?

i move that we ban all cats, and cat pictures from gameday threads for the season.

that was a horrible beating we took today, and i hate any animal that plays with their poop, and then walks all over your counters.

can i get a second

Latos was off his game

Latos was off his game from the start. The main reason was the 70% humidity. What told me this was. He was wearing a t-shirt under his jersey. He was pulling at it in the very first inning. That told me it was sticking to his body. Bet it was made of mostly cotton. Most people dont realize going from the west coast to the east coast really get to your body. Especially HUMNIDITY country like fla this time of year. Latos should have been sent ahead one day for his body to get use to the humidity a bit.

Dude, he's is from the area. He grew up there.

I’m pretty sure he knew what it was going to be like.

I hate to do it but I agree with tec

I don’t see how Latos is going to tell his family and friends in attendance that he wasn’t used to the humidity. He’s been a San Diegan for like a month and a half if that.

by Dex on Apr 27, 2010 9:15 AM PDT up reply actions

But how long was he in AZ before that. AZ is worse for you than SD. I agree with that also Dex because they wouldnt beleive him. They havent experianced this for them selves. I lived in vegas area 30 years. I made at least 15 trips back home to SC. When I flew it effected me immediately. When I drove it didnt effect me as bad.

by foghorn8 on Apr 27, 2010 10:20 AM PDT up reply actions

no im a 71 year old man that loves baseball. I sure like to set a lot of people straight about the differance between living in the west and the east. Especially the way humidity affects you in each place.

by foghorn8 on Apr 27, 2010 12:55 PM PDT up reply actions

It might also be worth pointing out

That the humidity in Miami is pretty low right now. The humidity in San Diego is 15% higher. At least that’s what is today. I’m not sure about yesterday.

No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

I just looked up the humidity for yesterday in Miami. It was much higher (77 avg vs a current 31).

Latos was off his game

I grew up in South Carolina also. But after living in the west for several years your body gets use to the humidity there. Its so much dfferant. I agree with you also about him knowing about the Humidity in fla. But that makes no differance when his body is use to the climate in SD. Until you experiance this for ypourself you arent going to believe me. Think about this. If you have something sticking to your body not alls well.

See you dont beleive me. Because you havent experianced this for yourself. I was born and grew up in SC. Moved to Vegas area in 1974. Got use to the climate there. Now I live in SC again. Been back here 6 years and im still not use to the humid climate here.

RECORDS of first game

Id like to know what the record of the first game of a series from a west coast team going to the east coast to play. Example. Padres, Dodgers, Angels or AZ. I bet the rcord will show that the west coast team has lost that game way more than they have won. Im not sure were to go to get this information.
