Padres win 6 in a row! All alone in 1st place!
How 'bout them Padres?! In inclement weather the Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 to finish back to back sweeps of division rivals.
The Padres got off to a poor start this season making things really dusty. The only way to clean up sometimes is by lots and lots of sweeping and let's just say the Padres finished their chores.
- Adrian Gonzalez mashed a tater
- Nick Hundley hit a 2 run homer
- Everth Cabrera laid down a squeeze bunt that scored Tony Gwynn Jr.
- Jon Garland had a great outing, albeit slow as hell, getting his first win as a Padre
- 7-2 home stand

whoooooooooooot! pods are playing fairly well.
I cant wait to see how they play once Blanks starts hitting his stride!
Man, it was fun to checking out the Giants blog
I just want to get paid to draw naked girls, is that so much to ask?
What a difference pitching can be like...
when you have some depth and don’t need to look to someone like Walter Silva
From McCovey Chronicles
“can we take Adrian Gonzalez back to SF with us tonight” “Got a burlap sack?” “I’ll bring the chloroform”

Actually
That shows they have some seriously good sense.
Absolutely no chance in hell, but good sense.

Didn't see back to back sweeps coming but I'll sure take it.
Reds are better than they’ve been and the Marlins are so so, right? Both winnable series in my opinion.
We’re a young team and need to keep the momentum. I remember last year we were riding high for a week or so then ran into the Dodgers and got swept (or lost 3-1) with the worst game coming when Duango (or whatever the hell his name is) Sanchez blew Peavy’s 8IP, no runs outing, by walking in the losing run of a 1-0 loss. I was at that game and felt the hurt, it was not fun, especially in LA.
Luckily for us, I see the Giants as better than the Reds and Marlins, and see us winning some ball games. What’s the slogan these days? “SD means San Diego?”. To hell with it, “Keep the Faith.”

The Reds aren't any good.
They play in a big-time hitters park which inflates their offensive numbers, and their pitching isn’t real good even in a fair park. Last year we went 7-1 against them. Should take at least 2 out of 3 in Cincy.
The Giants certainly have the best pitching in baseball, but keep in mind they’re also the worst hitting club in baseball as well. We aren’t going to hold the Reds or Marlins to 4 runs over an entire series.
A .500 road trip would be a win, in my opinion.

Very true about the Reds. Now that you mention it, I remember sweeping them in Cincy late last year.

Swept them 3 games in SD
And took three of four in Cincy.
So 6-1, not 7-1. Sorry my bad.

He hit Carpenter!
Hope he’s ok, for the Cards’ sake. They need him to stay healthy. Last year was his first healthy season in a long time.

Did you *actually* try to give a pro-Cardinals sentiment.
Eff that.

The only thing missing from this win was some Bro Hymn.
"I'm a Padre at heart. Always gonna root for the Padres. Twenty-five years [with this organization], how can't you? Next year I'm gonna be rooting like a son-of-a-gun for these guys and for Blackie ... I'm gonna be rooting for the next general manager here, rooting for the city, the fans, everybody. I think a lot of San Diego." -Kevin Towers
They played Bro Hymn after the win on Tuesday
They also played “Twist and Shout” at the 7th Inning stretch, after “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”,
after hearing it at every single GD 7th inning stretch during the ENTIRE 2009 season.
I thought I was gonna snap.
I talked to Jed about it at ST. He said they would play “Sweet Caroline” and mix it up. They have played “Sweet Caroline” at least once.
I dont need to hear “Twist and Shout” EVAR again. Hay-zeus Lo-pez.
I know, I heard it on Tuesday.
I want them to play it after every win though.

I don't remember,
but I know it wasn’t Bro Hymn.

what do u mean, no Sweet Caroline?
During the 7th or after the game?
After the game would be bad. That is a Red Sox thing, is it not?

it's been great to see our small ball succeed
we won all of these games on pitching, defense, and speed. It’s been working!
and it’s been really nice seeing our young guys show some strong plate discipline. That was the deciding factor in the Giants series.
