Padres SWEEP the Snakes!!!

The Padres win their first series of the season in style with a sweep of the Snakes. The win brings them back to .500.

I feel like I would've been happy with a series win, but I be much happier with the series sweep.

There was a great AB that Dick Enberg miscalled, hollering "TOUCH EM ALL" on ball that obviously bounced just shy of the warning track. In the time that he figured out that the ball hadn't gone out, there was a bad relay and an aggressive baserunner and Chase indeed found himself at home plate.

The Padres make me happy. I'm gonna get me one of those green hats.

"I'm a Padre at heart. Always gonna root for the Padres. Twenty-five years [with this organization], how can't you? Next year I'm gonna be rooting like a son-of-a-gun for these guys and for Blackie ... I'm gonna be rooting for the next general manager here, rooting for the city, the fans, everybody. I think a lot of San Diego." -Kevin Towers

Another come from behind win...brilliant

I was listening to the game on the way to the gym and figured it was all but over when we stranded two runners with no outs in the 6th or 7th. When I got back in the car, post game show was talking about Chase Headley doing it again.

After a few lackluster games against the Braves, the Padres are finally showing some of their promise. We’ll see if they’re the real deal in this series against the Giants. Thankfully no Lincecum.

They should have just given Savior the "inside the park home run" any way.

I just want to get paid to draw naked girls, is that so much to ask?

You could argue that:

He was committed to third before the throw. triple

He did not score on the bad throw. He scored when the ball was in control and no one was covering home.

He was committed to third before the throw that the error occurred on

But he committed to third after the throw from the LF to the cutoff man (who then committed the error).

No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong about that.

maybe we need some monks and nuns to be Chase’s fan group lol

Missed Roll Call on the comments,

But did not miss the game. The boys are inching me closer and closer to MLB.TV. Three days ago, I thought it was going to be a very long season, now they’re living up to the preseason hype of being fun to watch (or listen to).

"And now for something completely different"

by Boilermaker19 on Apr 18, 2010 6:01 PM PDT reply actions

MLB.TV

is honestly the best 80 bucks I’ve spent this term. While I’m still having issues with it, it’s so nice to have. I haven’t been able to watch a full game live for a few days now, but I’ve gone back and watched them. It’s been so worth it

by Jordan_Ming on Apr 18, 2010 6:21 PM PDT up reply actions

MLB.TV is for the computer right?

It’s 80 bucks? I think I’m going to hold out for the half price mid season special on extra innings, I think it’s $100 mid season.

Mat Latos is the real deal...Go Lakers, Pads, and Bolts

by mrbarneydangles on Apr 18, 2010 6:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

They had a special going (It might still be available) where you can get $20 off and something like 16 issues of sports illustrated for free. I honestly love it, even with all the issues. Plus, I can’t get extra innings here at school, and my roommate absolutely HATES baseball so I can’t watch it on our tv anyway.

by Jordan_Ming on Apr 18, 2010 6:47 PM PDT up reply actions

I have MLB.TV as well.

Couldn’t agree more with what you’re saying. I’ve missed a couple games so being able to go back and watch them is awesome. BTW, “Player Tracker” might be the most awesome feature of anything ever made.

by Dubsco on Apr 18, 2010 9:17 PM PDT up reply actions

I had a few gripes about MLB.TV,

Mainly the lag, and sometimes it’d block me out of the game completely. However, I can see why you would enjoy it:)

by podpeople on Apr 18, 2010 9:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Agreed

I gave up cable because I hate the cable company and don’t want to spend $100/month to watch shows that are mostly available on the internet anyway. So, I bought Padres.tv for $70. I’ve had a few technical issues, as well… but it’s great to be able to watch all the games. AND I like how you can go back and watch any game in the archive. I’ve watched Headley’s game winning shot and the 10-run inning like 3 times now.

I was at the game

Walked on the field with the little leaguers (I’m an assistant coach for my nephew’s team)… was frustrated with all the LOB… but Savior’s shot was freaking amazing… and Scotty’s HR was incredible.

Also

I was in Toyota Terrace… LaBlanc did not look dominant, but he pitches like a pro and seems to be able to will himself to make good pitches and not get overwhelmed when it counts. He is one of those guys who, IMHO will carve himself a decent career without overwhelming stuff. He is “Scrappy”.

I want to like Enberg

but his home run call is really getting on my nerves. I managed to miss the games both on Fri & Sat, but started tuning in at the 7th today, just in time to see Savior “touch ’em all”. God, I’m so stoked we swept them snakes. I can’t wait for the Giants games. This could be a very interesting series.

I'll take it.

Who you got hitting the “touch em all”? Venable? Adrian? Or maybe Everth gets walked, steals second, steals third, then Adrian drives him in on a bloop single.

I've got a useless single by Eckstein in the 1st.

Then Cain gets pulled in the 9th after giving up two straight walks. The reliever comes in and walks two more. Padres win 1-0.

A buddy of mine works at Petco as a host this season.

He told me that they’re all trained to be as accomodating to fans as possible. A couple of the things they’re told to do:

 - If a guest complains about the view from their seat (rail obstructing view, people standing in front of them), find them a better seat.

 - If you see a guest drop a drink or food, walk with them to a concession stand and hook them up with a new drink/food.

I went to the game with him on Saturday… he kept encouraging me to drink most of a beer, and then do a trip/stumble and drop my beer in front of a Petco worker. I didn’t have the balls.
