BREAKING NEWS!!! SAN DIEGO PADRES TO RENAME TEAM!!!

Tom Garfinkel asked us not to mention this and keep it off the record, but my devotion to the Padres goes beyond the "off the record" shield that the front office cowers behind.

Garfinkel says that Moorad and Moores are strongly considering changing the name of the team in an attempt to capitalize on a wider market share and to force MLB to grant them more territory. They've been pointing to the use of "Los Angeles" by the Angel's and Art Moreno's assertion that adding "LA" to the end of the Angels has coincided with an increase in revenue.

On the table for the rename:

  • San Diego Padres of Southern California
  • Los Angeles Padres at San Diego
  • Baja California Padres
  • The OCSD Padres (Orange County / San Diego)
  • The California Padres
  • The Los Angeles San Diegans

MORE AS IT DEVELOPS!!!

The “old player coming out of retirement” was somewhat believable because, afterall, it is the Padres. But this story, a bit of a reach isn’t it?

maybe

but did you believe it the first time the angels said they were going to become the los angeles angels of anaheim? that’s some crazy unbelievable.
