PADRES: Ex-hitting coach Joyner at peace with departure
"I had a choice. I either could have kept quiet and collected a paycheck and followed the system or I had the opportunity to express my displeasure before they got rid of me, which I figured was going to happen. I have a lot of pride in my abilities. I wasn't going to coach and agree to a system that wasn't going to make these players better. They were handcuffed." -
PADRES: Team looks to Ready to end high turnover at batting coach
"It was never 'Get your hands here or get your foot down.' It was, 'In batting practice, pick a song and sing it in your head and get a little rhythm. Get that rhythm going and your thoughts off that stuff.' -

This
bodes well for us…
Following the hiring of Ready as batting coach in 2009, the Padres raised their batting average from .232 to .260, increased their runs scored from 3.7 per game to 4.4, and saw an increase in on-base percentage from .309 to .340 during a stretch in which they won 34 of 59 games.

Since when is every employer
in an interview honest about their philosophy?

I could care less what they say about us or any other team. We had the best NL record in the 2nd half of last season. Going to Peoria on Saturday, I saw a much different team than last year. We are quicker and have a lot of confidence in our pitchers. I see us being towards the top. Go Pads
You stay classy San Diego
and they forget about the Giants
who are better than the Doyers anyways.
this article is excrement i say… EXCREMENT!!!

Pads are getting zero respect around the league
last year at this time we were talking about the possibility of Josh Geer or Walter Silva as a 5th starter (heck, some were pinning Silva as a #3), with Duaner Sanchez as the set up guy with Edwin Moreno actually making the staff out of ST. Hell, Edwin Moreno was run out there once in April in a 1 run save situation in Philly. This staff is soooo much better. The bench is sooooo much better. The pen is frankly one of the best in baseball. Speed now exists where 1 year ago it was strictly station to station. Because the starting staff does not have a legitimate, experienced ace with a pretty good question mark around the experienced #2 starter in Young – the Pads maybe lose 85-88 games but they are not a 90 loss team this year as many predict. I say 84-78.
