Spring Training Game Thread: 3/10 Padres @ Brewers AND Indians @ Padres
Two games at the same time today! So hard to choose. Hopefully we will see two Padres wins today. Have the Padres ever won a regular season double header?

Didn't realize it was going to be on tonight. Thanks!
Listening to the Brewer game also. Gallagher has had a pretty good start outside of the first two batters of the game.

Latos's pitches look nasty on Gameday
He’s throwing four different pitches: a fastball that’s been as fast as 95, a slider at 87, a changeup at 83, and a curve at 77.
I'm figuring the Padres will end up with
an 8 man rotation…

I kinda wish we could...
do that like once a week….
It could be a once per week power… kinda like “phone a friend”.
The manager (or GM) would signal to the umpire that they want to use their weekly lifeline and have the current or preceding inning erased from the game score. I’m not exactly sure how it would work, but with all of the sabermaticians out there, I’m sure we could finagle out the details.
-Zen Blade
That's basically what I'm recommending
The score doesn’t matter, so if you just skip that inning and pretend it never happened it really doesn’t change your experience.

what im saying is that
from what i have been hearing on the radio, and seeing in his stats, it seems as though he is having a good spring so far which would make me think that he is hopefully on the right track to becoming a quality major league pitcher, hopefully a quality major league starter, is all.
Unfortunately
That sort of information is difficult to glean from just Spring Training. Especially, this early.

Why do you think Stauffer is more likely to win the spot than Gallagher?
They’re both out of options. Just because Stauffer did a passable job in the role last year you think?
"I aim to misbehave." - Mal Reynolds
by Zach (maestro876) on Mar 10, 2010 2:09 PM PST up reply actions
Because I think they will want to keep both
And I don’t think they’ll send Stauffer to the bullpen. I think they also realize that it hardly matters who begins the season as the 5th starter. At some point all of the 5th start candidates will make major league starts this year.
No, I don't think you're an idiot. Please don't go trying to prove me wrong.
Bolts from the Blue - General Manager: It is what it isn't
I'm sure you're right.
And I figured they’d both make the team. I was just wondering why you thought Stauffer made a better starer candidate than Gallagher, is all.

Stauffer had his shot in the rotation.
Gallagher has a higher ceiling and could potentially eclipse Stauffer in terms of ceiling. The guys just got fantastic stuff when he’s on. I’d like to see him get every shot of relizing his potential. What else have we got to do next season but develop talent?
Check out this clip an imagine him developing this potential on a consistent basis.

The higher levels thing doesn't completely make sense
