Ted Leitner: On a scale of Zero to Tony Gwynn
The Zero to Tony Gwynn scale is a rating of a Padres' importance to the San Diego Padres and their fans. The scale works to determine the relative importance of a particular Padre based on the assumption that Tony Gwynn is the perfect representation of the San Diego Padres.
Ted Leitner, a San Diego Sports radio icon. The man with a gift for gab. The man with the tan. Thirty years of service in the San Diego Padres broadcast booth.
How many cold San Diego evenings did you snuggle up in your long sleeve shirt and listen to Uncle Teddy whisper sweet nothings into your ear? Countless.
He may never have been a player but there is little doubt that he deserves our respect for his long time work with the Padres.
How would he measure up on a scale from Zero to Tony Gwynn, that's the real question.
Vote like it's going out of style!

When the time comes for Teddy to retire
Put me on suicide watch
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔
Uncommon Sportsman :: Absurdity in play

you people are f_ckin' ridiculous
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TONY GWYNN vs TED LEITNER.
I have considered naming my CHILDREN after Tony Gwynn. Ted Leitner? Seriously?
When the team is DOWN BY ONE, Ted Leitner will say, “what’s wrong with YOUR Padres?”
When that same team takes the lead, “MY Padres are leading.”
I am convinced Ted Leitner has done nothing but encourage San Diego’s fairweather fan reputation.

you make good points. As someone who has named a child after TG, I can say that I would never name any of them after Teddy, but none the less my Padres experience wouldn’t be the same without Leitner. I feel like things have changed in recent years in regards to the “My Padres” vs. “Your Padres” thing. I think when Alderson came in he asked Teddy to change and be a bit more of a supporter as the radio voice and Teddy changed his tune a bit. At least that is the impression I’ve gotten from a few interviews I’ve heard wtih Teddy. I think I’m going with 6, same as Coleman.

Am I the only one...
Who is disturbed by the fact that so far two of the three most “Padre-important” people are broadcasters….
Only Trevor compares with Leitner and Coleman…. That does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

This is my new favorite saying
“On a scale from zero to Tony Gwynn… "
"If and when Gaslampball ‘proclaims’ from the mountaintop, we follow blindly. That’s just how it works around here."
