Because our options at 2B right now are David Eckstein or Jerry Hairston… He’d be an upgrade over either of those guys.

And we just might
have a hitter hitting above .300. Which is always nice.
He’s also much more promising than any second baseman we have in our farm system, so it’s not like he’s taking away any young guy’s chance during the season.

but i feel like it is an agent trying to drive the price up for ST louis.
i don’t see how we could get him the playing time. (i am all for him starting over Eck) just don’t see it happening.

So assuming we get Lopez
We’d have one middle infielder bench player, one outfielder, one corners guy, one backup catcher and one guy who can play everywhere and only one of them has any power whatsoever
And I assume the line up would be
Cabrera
Lopez
Gonzalez
Headley
Blanks
Venable
Hundley
Gwynn
P
Right?

Please don’t put Headley in the 3 or 4 hole. The pressure of playing LF killed his batting what will hitting cleanup do?
he'll bat 4 or 5.
i suppose if Blanks tears the cover off the ball, they’ll move him to cleanup, but it’s not like we have a ton of options. i suppose Hairston against certain lefties.

It will piss a lot of people off to treat Eck like that, but the team would be better on paper for it.
