It’s no secret Jerry Coleman will have a reduced role on Padres broadcasts this season, but how reduced remains to be seen. There was a report last week that Coleman would be limited to day games at Petco Park (there are 25), but Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel said the broadcaster schedule hasn’t been finalized and Coleman remains “an important part of our broadcast, and an important part of the Padres family in general.” Added Garfinkel: “As we’ve told Jerry, we may have him travel to less away games but do more innings for many of the games he does.” -

Unfinished Business: How To Lose A Baseball Game
"The other day in school I was supposed to write a personal story illustrating how to lose a sporting event. Hmmm. That's not too hard of a thing to do, being a Padres fan and all. So, I decided that it would be a very interesting thing to explore. How do the Padres lose a baseball game? I know that the team is changing and that they were actually able to do decently well in the second half last year, but I've had to experience plenty of losses." -
Friars on Cardboard: Can Matt Antonelli Please Have #9 Back?
"Mr. Antonelli is a much too humble man to trouble you with this request. However, I'm fairly certain, as evidenced by the new regime's eagerness to listen to the fans, this should be no problem. After all, there is no one listed as #9 on the 40-man roster." -

Jed Hoyer was on XM MLB Home Plate
interview was the same as all the other ones here is what I remember:
-Club had a lot of momentum at the end of the year, hopes to capitalize on it
-People talk about Adrian, b/c he is good and he was shopped by the previous management before he got there. Adrian fits in with Padres, and they will need to be blown away to move him. He is having discussion with Boggs (Agon’s agent) but those he will keep private as he thinks they should.)
-The goal of the offseason was to fill in some gaps, but not block the young guys. Flexibility and depth was the big whole last season.
-Signing both Hairistons just happen to work out that way, and not planned. Jerry was targeted at the start of the winter and Scott became “suddenly” available
-He is excited about watching Blanks and Everth play everyday and think they can accomplish a lot at the major league level
-Trading Kouz was tough, but they knew Headly was not a LF. He scouted Chase a lot when he was with the Red Sox and thinks he will do well this year.
-They have a lot of 19-23 year old talent in the system. They may surprise people this year
-Something boring about John Garland
-His approach was not to panic his first year, but just try to fill some holes.
-CY can be dominant when he feels right, which he hasn’t the last two years. Right now -CY feels very confident about this season
-Bud Black has helped him out a lot. He is going to judge his success on how hard the team plays for him. He was impressed on how hard the young guys played for him the last two months of the season
