chase headley batting 4th is weak
If I pick it, I flick it

very weak
It’s like Buddy strategically wants Adrian to walk every at bat. I think all of the fans would like to see Blanks hit clean-up. And starting the lineup with Cabrera/Gwynn would be nice to see too.

I think he will be by the end of the season
but thats alot of pressure to put on a kid with 172 MLB PA.
hairston?
I think I’d rather see hairston in center batting 6th, move venable and hundley down a spot, and have everth leading off.
Scott will probably hit when there's a lefty pitcher.

On those days
I imagine Everth would lead off, and Scott bats 4th or 5th, with everyone behind him moving down a spot.

Uncommon Sportsman :: Absurdity in play
why no Everth leading off
thought he did better
not to mention can we PLEASE move Eckstein to #8 and go with Cabrera/Gwynn?

I agree on Eckstein
whatever happens, please please please move Eckstein to 8th… or, better yet, to the bench.

Eckstein should be in the 8 hole
I don’t care how he arranges the top with Gwynn and Everth

If everything goes well...
The lineup should slowly morph into this…
1) Cabrera
2) Gwynn/Hairston
3) Headley
4) Gonzalez
5) Blanks
6) Venable
7) Hundley
8) Eckstein
Cabrera and Blanks are the keys to this change (and Headley to some extent).
Can Cabrera handle the leadoff role for an entire season? If so, he will steal far more bases than Gwynn.
Can Blanks protect Gonzo by hitting directly behind him? If so, Gonzo should have another monster year (and command top dollar in a trade).
Please stop
DO NOT put Headley in the clean-up spot. Not only is he not a power hitter but he is yet unproven as a gap hitter. Put Blanks or Adrian. Opening Day better have this lineup like San Diego Josh says.
Seriously.
Headley is Sean Burroughs 2.0

I don't think Blanks is much of a secret.
The league knows his raw power. I imagine he is protection for Headley in hopes that Headley can turn it on.
Oh internet, what a wicked web you weave.
Alternately
put Blanks or Headley into the 3-hole and move Adrian into the cleanup spot. The other would bat 5th.
Especially with Blanks, you would HAVE to pitch to him so you wouldn’t get Adrian with a runner on base. And if Headley (optimistically) becomes a decent player, then they would also sort of have to pitch to Adrian as well.
IDK, I’m just spitballin here…
I prefer AG batting third
I like the best hitter being in the 3rd spot.
