So I guess we don't have Jason Bartlett, Jon Morosi continues to draw the ire of Gaslamp Ballers
I'm having trouble verifying Jason Bartlett either way. I mean, why would Jon Morosi deceive us? We've always been good to him.
So for now, Jason Bartlett is still a Ray, I guess. Who knows.
I wonder how many season tickets got sold in the amount of time between announcing Jason Bartlett and then not verifying it. This might be a good strategy, but I feel like you have to let the lie sit for longer than half a day if you really want people to buy tickets.

Supposedly
they are not announcing the deal until either
1) there is an extension worked out with bartlett
2) they work out a compromise to insure he doesn’t go to arbitration
that’s all, the deal’s done, all that’s being waited on are one of those two to happen
Understanding is a three edged sword; your side, their side and the truth.
Bolttalk Podcast - the Best Chargers show on the Web!
So that's it - his last year of arb, and Moorad wants a SD discount salary for 2011.
The arbitrationist gave him $5 million last year, and he had a down year, so he’ll get a raise anyway. Moorad prolly wants to cut him to $3 million plus an option for 2012 so he can’t go fre-agenting on us in 2012. That makes sense, since we’re giving up two players who don’t make $1 million combined, and who can’t even go to arb for a couple years, let alone free agency. They don’t play shortstop though.

Good grief...
That’s one of the things that I hate about the age of Twitter. Journalists and wanna-be journalists just put stuff out there to be first and then forget about being correct.
That said, it’ll probably finalize in the next few days. Hopefully it will since the other SS I heard stories about, J.J. Hardy, just got traded from Minnesota to Baltimore.
Just please Jed, whatever you do, don’t think that Jeff Francour is an answer at first base or in the outfield, unless the question is, “Who the hell is that swing at that pitch that’s three feet off the plate?”
Jed isn't an idiot. He wouldn't sign Franceour.

So far I like Jed's selection of
middle tier coming off a down year slobs players
I drink therefore I am.
W. C. Fields
Not such a great slew of first basemen this year (post-Adrian)
I think Jorge Cantu would be a better pickup from the rather underwhelming list. Or we grab an older player like Overbay and hope Blanks heals faster than expected and then can do things.
I really don’t know what to think here about this hole.
Jed's not worried about first base, because
we can fill it internally with Baxter, or Oscar Salazar, or just pick up Stairs again, until Blanks is ready. If he’s not, they can call up Rizzo after a couple months in Tucson.

basically I agree with you
Although I think there will be a ton of left over 1B that will not sign before January/February. I think that is when we decide to make a move. A one year contract at 2-4 million maybe.
You can probably get a decent player then. There are ~10-15 free agent 1B still out there.
He's doing well. Expects to play in Spring Training
He did an interview with Coach last night on 1090.
Kyle has made some huge strides in coming back from Tommy John surgery this week. He gave Coach all the details

1B Hole!!!
Jorge Cantu and Lyle Overbay would be my number 2 and 3 choices repectfully. My first choice would be Derek Lee. I don’t care if it would cost between $7-10 million for one year. He is a right-handed hitting power guy that we could place in the 3 spot of the line-up and just let him play. Hope he comes back healthy and strong with a monster 1st half, then try and trade him for even more prospects when the deadline rolls around. Then if Blanks is healthy you give him a shot to win an everyday job again. But if Blanks struggles through the first two or three weeks, then it’s time to call up Rizzo and let him get his feet wet since he will be starting at 1st base opening day 2012 anyway….As much as I was a Nick Hundley supporter, I just don’t see him as an everyday major league catcher. So I would like to see them trade Heath Bell to either the Yankees or the White Sox for either Jesus Montero or Tyler Flowers respectfully. A top prospect that has the chance to develop into an above average everyday major league catcher. Really get this team ready for 2012 and beyond…..
glaus
How about Troy glaus. Probably too expensive. Can he still play third? If so we could sign him to play first, and if Headley sucks it up we can move him to third when blanks/rizzo are ready. Given that konerko got like 13 a year, glaus probably thinks he’s worth $10 so its probably moot. Lee would be my second choice.

Good Thought....
That is a good thought but Glaus is said to be done in the field. So far the only teams looking at him are teams that were considering using him as a DH. Plus, I know Lee is coming off an injury last season, but over the period of thier careers Lee has shown that he has the ability to stay healthy longer….And personally, I think Chase Headley will be fine. He is only 26 and hasn’t even reached the prime of his career. I think people are giving up on him way too early. The Marlins and Rangers both gave up on Gonzalez before he turned 26 and looked what happened with that. Plus, in his 3+ big league seasons he has made 2 position changes and was put under way too much pressure last season when Buddy Black used him as the 4 hole hitter for most of the year when he is not even close to a 4 hole hitter. I think if Black just plugs him into the 6 spot and let him be, he will should be able to put up something like .290+, 15 HR, 75+ RBI’s, and 20 SB’s. Granted, those aren’t amazing numbers but witht the defense that he plays they are fine. I just don’t buy into all that nonsense that a 3rd basemen needs to hit 30+ HR’s to be considered good. Chone Figgins has never hit more than 5 but is pretty close to an all-star 3rd basemen…
The holdup in the Bartlett trade is Cesar Ramos.
According to a rotoworld report, Ramos was listed on the 7 day disabled list for Hermosillo in the Mexican Winter League.
