K Correia to Pirates - 2 years, 4 mil each year
Kind of sad to see Kevin go. His performance tanked after the death of his brother. Hopefully he'll bounce back this year.

Best of luck to him
But $4 mil. a year, geesh.
This is a terrible thing for the Padres. - Jerry Coleman

i would have been disappointed if the padres made this deal
Glad it was the Pirates. That said good luck to him. Seems like a great guy. Always liked him and I hope he has a great season.

I know people will miss him as a person
But, as a player, we can do better. And we can probably do it for cheaper. And we get a draft pick in exchange for his departure.

8 million seems high,
I hope he lives up to that. I liked Correia, and I have very little dislike for Pittsburgh
What I need is an electric monk
That's $8 million over two years, $4 million per year.
The Padres paid him $4 million last year. A couple of fantasy experts tagged him as a sleeper, a comeback candidate for ‘11. What bothers me is his statement that the Padres didn’t seem too anxious to have him back. I don’t know if he meant Moorad, Jed or Black.
He never got much chance to start regularly with San Frisco, and by the end of ‘10, he was out of the rotation and back in the bullpen, and hadn’t even been mentioned as a starter here for next year. In Pittsburgh, he’ll be part of the rotation, and if he gets back to the way he pitched the second half of ‘09, we may wish we had him back. At least he’s good for a high strikeout rate and 200 innings.
He's never thrown 200 innings before.
And a career K rate of 6.63 isn’t high.
He lost his job here because he was sucking it up. Maybe it was the personal issues, I don’t know. But what Wonko said above is accurate—we can do better for cheaper, and we got a draft pick.

I have every reason to believe
That Luebke, LeBlanc or both or one of them plus a late season promotion from Castro could outperform Correia next season and they cost 1/10 of the amount that Kevin does. It seems like a no-brainer.

YOU seem like a no-brainer.

I hope Kevin does well in Pittsburgh.
But the Pirates are woefully sad, year after year.
