Since he's working out in Padre facilities
If they break him, do we get him back?
"Well, it's just ineffable." "Oh, so I'm not 'F-able'?" "No, no, ineffable means it can't be explained." "So I'm stupid?"
Looking an awful lot like Brad Hawpe will be the 1B...
The National League West title was all but a lock,
Then they lost 10 in a row, ‘twas like a punch in the jock!

how does that look
if we platoon him with Blanks?
"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"
Whenever Blanks is both healthy and ready
I assume that will be the case.

If this turns out to be true...
This is a creative solution to getting us a 1st baseman.
I hope that the price is right and that Hawpe shows that he can hit. He made about $7.5 million during that last year of his contract with the Rockies.
We’ll see what happens.

I have a hard time choosing between the options on the table.
But I don’t think any one of them is a particularly bad choice just to keep the seat warm until Blanks is ready.
That said, it could be hard to stomach Hawpe if only because of his role in our 2007 collapse. I was at the extra innings game he won with a HR after Adrian tied it in the 9th with a HR. That night pretty much epitomized the year for us.
