Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

To my fellow Padre fans who have apparently lost their minds...

It has become apparent to me that some of you are actually rooting for the San Francisco Giants to win the World Series. What in the hell is wrong with you? What is this whole "Oh! I'm rooting for the NL West!" crap? Division pride? Are you serious? You're kidding right? You hate a team to it's very core for 162 games PLUS Spring Training and then you switch a flip and root for them?? Root for the Giants?

And the last thing I want to hear is this shit about wanting to see "Boch and Flan win a ring". Vomit. I see your Boch and Flan and raise you a collection of assholes I don't want to see anywhere near a World Series trophy: Matt Cain, Jonathan Sanchez, Brian Wilson, Jose Guillen (Yes, I am aware he's not on the active roster, giant lover.), Aaron Rowand, Barry Zito, Brian Sabean, Mike Krukow.

Matt Cain is a little bitch that scrapes the SD off the back of OUR mound in OUR house every single time he pitches at Petco. Jonathan Sanchez? Ugh...no Padre fan could want to see him celebrating a Championship.  Brian Wilson? Isn't his beard alone enough to hate him?  Jose Guillen is a notorious clubhouse cancer that should never win a Championship. Zito and Rowand's contracts combined total $186 million dollars...Rowand is so bad he rides the bench and Zito isn't even good enough to make the playoff roster. This reasoning also applies to why Brian Sabean should never win a ring. Mike Krukow sounds EXACTLY like Mark "Mud" Grant...and for that, I can't stand the guy. I'm not even going to go into the whole stupid-ass Panda thing with Pablo Sandoval.

You really want to hear Giants fans rubbing a World Series Championship in our face?  I don't agree with Dodger fans on ANYTHING....but I can tell you they want the Giants to get swept just as badly as I do.

If you can root for one of our most hated rivals just a matter of days after having our hearts broken by that very same team....then I put the collapse on YOU. YOU clearly didn't hate them enough during the regular season. YOU failed us with your closet Giant love.

Go Rangers!!!!!!

It's Horrible

I go to SDSU and every day I hear people talk about how “dank” it is that “at least a Cali team gots a shot.” I just want to punch them and say “No, broseph. It’s not wicked sauce or whatever it is you tools say. This is San Diego. 619 this! BOOM BOOM POW!”

Same here.

Also, the number of “Giants fans” who suddenly go to State is annoying. Especially when they see me wearing a Padres shirt and start hating, even though three weeks ago they didn’t give a fcuk about baseball.

I need new pants.

Right?

I wore my Padre sweatshirt a few days after the end of the season when I flew to Detroit. I actually had some douche (FROM HERE) try and trash talk SD to me. Give me a break.

As if learning about the Holocaust isn’t enough, I had to see them all cheery about a team they obviously don’t support.

I have a Padres backpack with a huge SD on it.

In class on Tuesday, a guy who sat by me proceeded to talk trash about how the Giants knocked the Padres out of the playoffs. I told him it was funny how he never had anything to say the previous two months of the semester because my team dominated his all season. And it wasn’t the Giants who knocked us out of the playoffs, it was our lack of offense during a ten game losing streak. His response was, “Whatever. Fear the beard, baby!!!!”

Douche. Bag.

No love here!

The bitter taste is still so strong that I have yet to watch an entire post season game!! To be forced to watch the Giants for ANOTHER round? OUCH.

Yeah, I get it that logically we are supposed to root for the NL West team – but knowing full well that our team should be there instead? Oh hell no.

I heard a guy on Darren Smith’s show yesterday from local ESPN radio in Texas going on and on about what a fun group of guys the Rangers are – how they are all about just playing the game & having fun. How they are all, in many ways, recovering from some sort of deep adversity & seem to love & appreciate the game more.

I love that – and it reminds me of why we loved this Padres team so much.

GO RANGERS!!

My sentiments exactly

I’m sick of the Giants. I hate their entire lineup: Huff, Uribe, Sandoval, Guillen, Cain, Sanchez, Wilson, etc….I just threw up a little. I’m sick of their blowhard fans. I’m suddenly inundated by dozens of people who I never knew were Giants fans, let alone even followed baseball, but are suddenly die-hard Giants fans. Plus, they are in your face about it. Two weeks ago, the only Brian Wilson they knew of was a damn Beach Boy.

Go Rangers, all the way!

Brian Wilson's beard

absolutely IS reason enough to hate him. But I happened to read that he would like one day to become a crossword puzzle clue (okay, that’s probably douchey). And when he makes it into the NYT Sunday Crossword, he will cut it out, fill in his name only and frame it.

I am a crossword puzzle nerd, and I was stirred by this. And then I felt AMAZINGLY DIRTY for ever thinking a kind thought in his direction. Soiled.

Agreed 100%.

I’ve disowned the other baseball fans in my family because they’re all on the “I want the Giants to win for Bochy and to represent the NL West well” bandwagon. My dad even has the gall to suggest we should be rooting for the team that beat us. W T F ? These people know nothing of the hatred baseball inspires, they’re all too casual to care that much.

by Rich Garcia's defective eyes on Oct 27, 2010 7:03 PM PDT reply actions

you know what burns?

in tonight’s little win, where they got to Lee, seems pretty innocuous except you realize that they just matched our franchise WS game wins, in one night

which makes this season’s close call all the harder

but..

despite the giants edging us out, they almost single-handedly gave us the division, by generally being unable to beat us

by jayman66 on Oct 27, 2010 10:06 PM PDT reply actions

I think what burns more than anything

Is that none of this would be happening if not for two runs in two of those signature close games we had this season, preferably during that 10 game losing streak. Two little swings of someone’s bat like Ludwig or Adrian…

by athletics68 on Oct 28, 2010 12:40 AM PDT up reply actions

how about two 1-0 losses in the chicago series

i say the Chicago grudge match since ’84 is evening up a bit

we win both of those, we win the division

easy to pick over the season and say “only if this or that happened…”

despite generally good marks for hoyer and bud, my observations:

-jed for not adding OF/IF depth in off-season; banking on Everth and Kyle was a move of someone believing the team is re-building, not anyway contending; understandable perhaps in the offseason, but i think KT, who probably believed in his teams to a fault, would have made those moves; 5-10m extra in offseason could brought us two solid players; jerry was a good defender and occasional pop, but we could have done better; denorfia was a good cheap find, but

-not picking up burrell as a FA; i thought so at the time, Jed thinks so in hindsight, but despite his D, his bat would have been nice

-not giving Tim a shot at the rotation sooner; he picked well last year, he pitched well in spring training, he pitched well through the season, why does it take until Sep to start experimenting with him as a starter? and why does it take that long with KC and Wade are clearly struggling later in the season? he starts starting in jun/jul, we win more games

If any of those three things happen, the division is ours
