Didn't see this posted anywhere else. But last week the Pads AAA team, the Portland Beavers were sold to Jeff Moorad pending approval as was expected after the Beavers home stadium ceased to be multipurpose at the close of the 2010 season. It looks like however plans have fallen through to have the Beavers play in Lake Elsinore for a year or two while their own stadium was built in Escondido (assuming the stadium plan passes the Escondido council's vote this fall). Instead the Bevos will be heading to Tuscon, AZ to play a season or two pending the ballpark's approval in Escondido. However there is still some uncertainty if Escondido does not approve the ballpark. Moorad could then back out of the sale and the Bevos fate really would be up in the air should he choose to back out. But for now it looks like for at least the immediate future the future of Padres AAA baseball lies closer to SD in Tuscon.
