A Letter for Tony Gwynn

My husband tucked our son in at 9:15, he didn't want to go to sleep but wanted to read instead. Normally he would relent and let him but this time he thought he needed to go to sleep earlier. About 20 minutes later he called me in his room and gave me this note. We haven't discussed this as a family and it hasn't really been on the news much at home, but this is what he busted out while he was in bed with his flashlight, pen and paper. FYI, we are big baseball fans and love the San Diego Padres. We grew up idolizing and/or loving Tony Gwynn. Patrick Jr. has taken on that love I guess. So Proud! Get well Tony.

This is pretty darn great. You should mail it for him.

Reminds me of when I was young and wrote a letter to George Brett. I still have the return letter.

Cool Kid

I remember the letters I used to send. Great job starting him young.

Indeed.

Screw sending letters to Santa Claus, send them to Tony Gwynn this fall.

Exactly

Santa Claus was always unreliable. At least Tony gave the Padres hope every year. You can’t get 5 Gold Gloves and 7 Silver Bats during the 12 Days of Christmas.

This is what baseball is all about.

Man, I remember the letters I wrote to players. That seriously made my night and reminded me why I’m such a baseball fan. Well done, Patrick. I’m proud to share my name with you.
