Around the Mission: 1/24 Padres Links

Dex and I aren't really sure how crazy we are about "Around the Mission", even though you voted your love for it.  I was thinking about moving it over to a daily FanPost, even though that is supposed to be your area, but you guys don't use it that much and it gets kind of stagnant over there.  Dex thought maybe we should just post the 3-5 best links of the day rather then everything we find.

Star-divide

  • Padres sign vet Stairs - SignOnSanDiego.com
Stairs, who turns 42 next month, gives Bud Black the left-handed bat off the bench the manager has sought. Stairs also gives a young club a needed veteran presence.

  • PADRES: Veteran Stairs signed to provide bench help
The Padres have a full 40-man roster, but they will invite Stairs ---- who reportedly has lost 31 pounds this offseason ---- to spring training.

  • PADRES: Fuson looking for job with A's?
"If I'm going to back, I want it to be with a club that has some bite, some substance for next year," said Fuson

  • Salazar: Not impressed with the Padres brother act
Padres fans have seen this brotherly love before, and it has failed to lift the team to new heights.

  • Perpetual Padres Saga: Padres Ramblings
I will definitely take the advices and continue blogging. I'm here because I need to do what I love; having fun writing about my Padres. Even though I did not make it on top 100 for 2009

  • Friars on Cardboard: WTF HOF
Jeez, I think this has been the laziest phoned in sack of crap I've ever posted here.

  • The Official Blog of Matt Antonelli: YOUNG BROADCASTERS
Antonelli was interviewed by a group of kids interested in broadcasting.

  • Friar John's Blog: Padres help in Haiti
"Our thoughts and prayers here at the San Diego Padres go out to the people of Haiti and all who were affected by the recent earthquake," Padres Vice Chairman and CEO Jeff Moorad said in a Padres press release.

  • Padres Impress With Modest Moves
The 619 Sports guys talk about the small moves Jed Hoyer has made so far as Padres’ GM, and the potential positive impact of putting the Happy Hairstons in the lineup and moving Chase Headley to third base

Around the Mission may not get a lot of comments...

but that doesn’t mean people aren’t reading it. It’s a convenient way to keep tabs on all Pads-related news and it’s one of the main reasons I come to GLB. That and to see Axion insult people using funny pictures.

    Aside from the funny

Sarcastic comments, the links are the only reason I come on here. It’s very convenient. It’s not like there’s any detailed analysis going on around here……

    Awww, I'm sorry Dex.

just a little bit of tough love I guess. You guys have no idea of how much of a promoter of this sight I am. I don’t comment much, kinda like to lurk in the shadows. Watching…. Waiting….. And then I apparently strike and rip peoples souls out. Man I’m a d*ck…….

    Keep it as it is

I always love when my blog gets posted on “Around the Mission”. Plus, I’m able to check out other great Padres blogs around the web, which is a plus.

    on the Mission
but it keeps me coming back daily
    which is what you want

while you guys are arguing about what the mission should be...

    i’m reading this shit…

and Bill Center just put Donavan Tate at #7 on the Pads prospect list…

I get that it’s based on

results, potential and proximity to the major leagues
but c’mon… doesn’t the fact that
    his ceiling is very high
make a difference… I’m with Sickels (who ranks Tate #1 in the Padres system) in
trust[ing] the tools and San Diego’s approach to hitting instruction with [Tate]
? Maybe i just put too much stock in Sickels.

    mission accomplished.

by zotzotpadre on Jan 24, 2010 6:34 PM PST reply actions

    very interesting...

the top 3 is a pretty good “consensus” … Castro, Tate and Decker.

if Center had those three in the top, it would have been much more believable.

    mission accomplished.

    daily links

there are a couple of sites that offer daily padre links. Friar Johns, and a few low budget padre blogs. You guys are the only ones that put any thought into the links. I read it daily via reader, and i hope you guys don’t change a thing.

Padres want to SELL the DR facility?

For 3 years I have been reading that it is the ticket to our future glory.

    More like Matt Stair-lift.
