if he wasn’t so old, I wonder how cheaply we could lock him up for say 3 or 4 years. He seems like the kind of guy who would take the SD discount.

RT @susanslusser: The minor-league prospect going to the A’s is Double-A infielder Eric Sogard, according to a San Diego source.
Ok I am liking this deal less and less. When Gio Gonzalez was rumored to be coming to SD, I was excited. Not so much anymore. I don’t think we came out ahead.
update the score
We sent them Kouz and Sogard for Craig Italiano, Ryan Webb, Sean Gallagher, and Aaron Cunningham.

It took ~a year and two GMs
but yes. I’m a little sad about Sogard because he’s a name I started to follow. But anything in return for Kouz? THANKS!

A's perspective
They probably consider Cunningham, Italiano, and Webb depth players. They definitely have a clearer path in SD
Cunningham/Hairston was stuck in a ryan sweeney, rajai davis, michael taylor, travis buck, coco crisp, sean doolittle, chris carter, grant desme, corey brown, cust, jake fox OF/1b/DH logjam
Not to mention
They didn’t really have a 3B they can count on for a full season.
I'm the first person to admit that I'm wrong about a lot of things, but I'm going to be the last person to admit I'm wrong about what we're currently talking about.
So they picked Kouz? Oh man…

Hey, he'll be there the whole season
That’s more than they can say for their other guys.

His bat will only be there for half
