Padres Bobble Heads in 2010
I spoke with someone in the padres office today. they told me that there would be bobble heads for the following players:
David Eckstein, Kyle Blanks, Everth Cabrera, Chase Headley and Clayton Richard.
Seems like a good collection, better than the zero bobble heads from the last couple of years.
Also they are hoping to hold more concerts at PETCO when the team is out of town.
He said that there will also be "college night" on most Friday home games.

that's what i thought too.
plus doing one for headley but not Kouz makes it pretty clear which one is available in a trade.
I'll bet they commissioned some Kouz bobbleheads
but, judging by the comments of all of the females on this blog, it was so damn handsome that the factory workers kept swooning, and all of the completed examples were spirited off to little shrines in the highlands of China.

Well there is a chance that he won't be around
and they don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of bobbleheads. Who did that happen to recently? Mike Cameron?
OH NO

They could have other stuff planned for him
Don’t rush to judgment on this. Bobbleheads are mad expensive to produce and require huge lead times for manufacturing. A quantity like this will need to be made in China. The no Adrian bobbles does mean that there is a chance he could be traded, but it doesn’t mean he absolutely will be.

No AGON or CY?
Your two highest paid guys not on the bobble head roster. OUCH!

CY is a real life bobblehips.
Have you seen the size of those things? He could use a hula hoop as a belt.

who cares
if they are the highest paid guys. the team is clearly trying to promote the younger guys. + over the last few years there has been a CY poster and a glove i believe. They gave away a Gonzo jersey and figurine too.

that's not the point...
What happened over the last few years really doesn’t matter because that was a whole different ownership and decision making group. We are trying to read between the lines for stuff this group is trying to do with the current players.
When so little has happened over this offseason….we are sadly forced to dissect every minute detail and try to see what it could mean for the team. Even something as trivial as bobbleheads.
Calm down
7 years ago when they decided to make Kotsay tees for a giveaway, did that make you all of a sudden think they were going to trade Gwynn? Relax! No need for crazy speculation.

was there new management in place and had gwynn trade rumors run rampamt for the last year at that time? just seems odd that they would decide to leave out their biggest marketing piece before the season even starts. An Adrian bobble head giveaway day would definitely equate to a sellout. I know it’s not the end all be all of any precursor to a move, but they are clearly prepared in the even that it does happen.
Again, to my point above
How on earth do you know that because they’re not making a freaking bobblehead effigy of him does that automatically equate to him being traded? There could be something else they’ll do for him.
This isn’t even official yet; there’s no official source given or backup link (no offense to schwing, I bet the news is true, I’m just pointing it out).
If we want to go nuts about possible personnel moves based on promo giveaways, let’s wait until we know the whole list. If Adrian doesn’t have a T-shirt or something in the works, then maybe I’ll join you and be a little concerned.

to be fair
Bobblehead night, regardless of the player, is going to get you close to a sell out. Especially considering the “collect them all” aspect of it this season.
That's awesome.
The further we pull away from the whole “family friendly” atmosphere, the better.

I believe Fridays are also ASU nights at Chase. It puts butts in seats, but you can walk from the downtown campus to the ballpark there.

Other things
It’s nice of them to try to promote PETCO as a concert venue, the city should be doing that instead.
I like that they’re using their giant database of phone numbers to call the fanbase now.

Headley?
I’m excited about Everth, Eckstein & Blanks bobbleheads, but is anyone excited at all about Headley as a player?! Since when do you have a promotion for a player like Headley? Maybe down the road, but it doesn’t make any sense right now.
FYI- SD colleges are far away from the Petco, and college students typically don’t want to go to the ballpark on Friday night. Sounds like a weak idea.
I'd be more excited about maybe a Hundley bobblehead.
Also, SDSU isn’t too far from Petco. And I love going to the ballpark on a Friday night. Duhh, FRIARWORKS!
But you’re right, most college students don’t choose to spend their Friday evenings at a baseball game; maybe that’s why they’re trying to lure them in with College Night.

They'll be busy
with the beer pong tournament and, on the Friday we play the Phillies at home, the Flipadelphia Flip Cup tournament.

Almost unrelated story...
A few months after that incident, my buddy and I sat in LF when the Giants were back in town. Bonds had passed Ruth’s 714 just like a week or two earlier.
So we’re gettin’ liquored up on watered down beers and heckling Bonds mercilessly. And he’s doing a great job of completely ignoring us.
Then, in like the 6th inning he comes back out to LF, and my buddy yells something like, “HEY BARRY!! YOU CAN USE ALL THE STEROIDS YOU WANT, BUT YOU’LL NEVER CATCH THE BABE!!”
And you could see Barry’s shoulders slump down and he turns around and looks up at us and just starts laughing. Our whole section loved it.

When the Cardinals came to town last summer...
during one of those games my dad’s corporation held an event on top of the Western Metal Supply Co. And the park is absolutely empty— because one team is abysmal and the other is average.
Anyways, Matt Holliday trots out to his spot in the outfield, and some of my pop’s co-workers and I start chanting, “NEVER TOUCHED HOME! NEVER TOUCHED HOME!” He turned and just kind of shook his head at us, but that night he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Banned from Arrowhead Pride... and Music City Miracles certainly don't like me very much, either.

No Latos bobble head?
Guess they’ll have to have a special promotion after he tosses the first no hitter in Padres history next year. You heard it here first….
Best giveaways are the beach towels and the worst are the hats. Last year went to hat night and the little circle emblem thing on all the hats were dirty. Don’t know if its the style or a discount hat? Maybe a little of both.

That is a pathetic list of bobbleheads.
Why just you just ask him?
