I'm not sure what you guys saw, but the Padres won tonight.

In other news (according to ESPN's telecast):

  • Manny Ramirez's swing is very very slightly different now than it was before his suspension
  • Manny Ramirez used to play for the Cleveland indians
  • Manny Ramirez's swing is different from David Eckstein's swing
  • Manny Ramirez plays outfield
  • Manny Ramirez is king of the Dodgers and his do-rag is like a crown
  • There actually are other players on the Dodgers besides Manny Ramirez
  • Andre Ethier, Rafael Furcal and James Loney all find it very interesting that they've been asked to contribute considering the fact that Manny Ramirez constitutes 100% of the Dodgers offense.
  • Manny Ramirez is having trouble hitting because of his hair.

But be warned

We ruin everything

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this blog is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on our souls.

3 times... thats it?

rookie

DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

We got a winning ballclub

Fourth straight series win, third straight on the road. Since hitting rock-bottom on July 27th, the Padres are 23-15. The team went 1-5 against the Cardinals, so that’s 22-10 against everybody else since 7/27. That’s too good to be a fluke. We got a winning ballclub!

THIS JUST IN

ESPN staff ran down after the show to jointly kiss Manny Ramirez’s ass before he showered after the game

by TheAxManCometh on Sep 6, 2009 11:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

On the plus side

They seem to be ready to line up in case they have to kiss Everth’s ass. And they seemed very complementary of Adrian Gonzalez and they also like (however misguided it may be) Kouz’ RBIs and Fielding percentage. Also, apparently Eckstein brings a World Series ring wherever he goes. The Blue Jays and Diamondbacks seem to have suffered some confusion over this axiom.

Also, Ethier and Kemp are gods among men.

Everth does own Manny.

Remember how many hits he took away from him July 4?

It was the same thing Channel 4 did the night before.

Check out what Ethier said after the game.

"It’s always tough to play a team that it’s hard to get up for. San Diego is going through a transition period where they are a lot of young guys, a lot of unfamiliar faces. It’s not the same energy as facing, say, a San Francisco team that you’re battling for the division title. It’s not an excuse, but that’s the way it is sometimes."

Basically, “We could have beaten them, but we weren’t really trying.”

Seriously, what an a**hole. F*ck you Ethier.

Dodgers can't get it up for us unless they think of San Fran while doing it.

Their remaining schedule features 16 games against cellar dwellers who are playing some good baseball (Pirates showing some life). If they can’t manufacture some energy when playing these teams they will surely miss the playoffs or at least stumble into them.

That kind of collapse would make the Mets cringe.

It does explain Mannys flacid bat this series though

Screw Ethier

All bitter because we won the series. Not our fault the LA Manny’s suck. I really hope they get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

The only thing it says to me is that Ethier isn't a competitor

Nice job letting the best record in the NL slip because you got bored, Andre.

Ethier is my 2nd-least-favorite Dodger

after Ramirez.

When Ethier was up in the bottom of the ninth

and Bell was pitching, it felt like Bell completely outclassed him. I was kind of surprised, thought only furcal had any hope. So let, Ethier make his excuses. “I let them own me”… whatever

by Stephen (shaynes41) on Sep 7, 2009 12:30 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He and Thome both

were overmatched against Bell. Neither could get around on the fastball, that’s why they both popped out to shallow left. Even Furcal got the benefit of a couple iffy calls to get the walk.

Ethier was 1-11 against Heath, and is now 1-12. And that’s sad, because lefties usually do OK against Bell (hitting around .250 I think).

This tells me that Ethier has no heart.

Unfortunately for my Rox, the Dodgers seem to own us. But that was before we fired Hurdle, mostly. And its good to know that Ethier seems to think they are battling SF for the division, even though the Rox are 3.5 games back and the Giants are 5 games back. Sounds to me that Andre is whistling in the dark….

great post!

When ESPN is even TALKING Dodger baseball- that is, when they are even TALKING baseball to begin with, besides the Yankees and Red Sox (used to also include Cubs & Mets, to some degree, before they floundered) it’s all Manny, all the time. I was amazed that they finally seemed to acknowledge the existence of Ethier and Kemp. ESPN radio is even worse- you’re lucky if they’re even talking about SPORTS (outside of Brett Favre and Michael Vick, of course). Their favorite subject used to be Erin Andrews, until…well, you know…
