My season tickets actually went up!
I'm sure this isn't an message that the Padres FO would like to see.
It's the truth ticket prices went up for games. They also went up for season ticket holders that are not buying full season packages.
After all the hype and BS last week, this is what we get? I opened my packet on Sunday and was ready to send in the cancel notice. The ORG set up expectations through the media this last week that ticket prices were going down. My 20 game package went up $100 per seat, not exactly the 86% that remained the same or went down like Moorad is saying.
This just lets me know that Moorad is going to pull the same crap Alderson did. Spin Spin Spin!

So misguided
Sixty percent of Padres individual game tickets and 86 percent of the full-plan season tickets for the 2010 season will be reduced in price next season.
None of the full-plan season tickets will be increased under ticket price reductions announced Thursday by the club.
Where did it say 20-game packages were being reduced? You’re being encouraged to upgrade to a full plan, that’s all.
Those expectations that you set up, you built those yourself. Welcome to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of your disappointment.

I've only been to Petco about twenty times
but I always buy the Park in the Park pass. I then, immediately, grab a couple of jalapeno handshakes and proceed to wander the stadium endlessly.
What was surprising to me was the price of beer this year. $8.50 for a premium. SCREAMIN’ deal… and Sandy wasn’t BS’n either, no $9 beers.
"Get on board early," Black said, alluding to, what he feels, is a crop of up-and-coming players.
"I would tell those fans that we're going to play good baseball. We're going to play hard. We're going to have exciting young players..." -Bud Black
I'd be pissed, too
In none of the reports about the Padres’ lowering ticket prices was it mentioned that miniseason ticket holders would be paying more. But let’s get some details. Were ticket prices actually raised, or was there a discount for miniseason plans that is being rescinded?

This isn’t spin, these are facts.
86% of 40 game plans are flat or down with an 11% weighted average decrease.
66% of 20 game plans are flat or down with a 13% weighted average decrease.
We have eliminated advanced pricing and premium pricing – there is now only one individual game price.
Full season plans are 35% off the individual game price.
40 game plans are 30% off the individual game price.
20 game plans are 25% off the individual game price.
Yes, some limited 20 and 40 game areas had increases over 2009, but 40 and 20 game plan holders are very important to us – which is why they still get substantial discounts over the individual game buyer.

Your Spin - the real facts
Dear Tom Garfinkel, President, San Diego Padres:
In my season ticket letter there was NO MENTION that only specific plans and seats were remaining flat or going down in price. It said that they were either staying falt or going down. Therefore I expected my 20-game plan to either remain the same or go down – as the letter stated.
You fielded such a poor team this year, as a sign of good faith, you should either extend the current seating prices or lower the current seating prices to current season ticket holders until you can field a consistently winning club. Then if you start to move prices up, I’ll understand
SOME of us are wanting to be a part of the TEAM, we obviously have been through the past disasterous year. However more than 20 games is not a cost that can be born by all.
see cofi’s post – right on.
Summer's over Garfinkel..
How can you raise ANY season ticket prices after the season the Padres just went through, and with a projected $40 million budget for next season. I know a few people in my family that absolutely won’t renew their season tix since Moorad and Garfinkel took over, and especially since they canned the best damn GM in the game in KT. Prove this isn’t a short term commitment to our team first (i.e. all those co-owner/investors want to make a return on their money soon I’m sure), and then you can start making some brash moves. Summer’s over Tom, all the other Zonies already left town if you didn’t notice.
Correct me if I'm wrong
but you’re complaining about the wrong season. Did you even watch 2008?

My tickets also went up
While the seats in lower left are going down for the general public from $28 to $27, the 20 game season ticket holder price is not going down a $1 as well, not staying flat, but going up $2!
What’s the message here? Is it:
a) Since I haven’t quit on the team already, I probably never will so go ahead and gouge me next year.
b) My loyalty in being one of the handfull of remaining season ticket holders is worth less than nothing.
c) An agent is running the show and using the media for spin is covered in Agent 101.
d) 20 season ticket holders are not real season ticket holders.
e) all of the above.

When to the mini plans go on sale?
I’ve never had a mini plan but I’m thinking I want to get a 13 or 20 game plan. The thing is, I don’t want to blindly put my deposit down until I see the plans. I don’t like how they just let you pick the games. You have to get certain days of the week and so forth.
To me it seems like the Padres are giving up any deals. You think they would be more willing to cut us deals or give us premium games to sign up for the mini plan.
