Pictures from the Last Padres game at Qualcomm Stadium
The date was September 28th, 2003, the last time the Padres would play in Qualcomm Stadium. We scored some tickets in the first row on the first base line. I thought I'd share some of Jonny Dub's pictures from that day.
I don't remember too much about the game, I remember all the festivities though. Here's the Ducksnorts' post from that day to refresh your own memory. Apparently Jake Peavy pitched. A ton of Padres players from our history showed up and took their place on the field wearing their jerseys. Ken Caminiti got huge cheers. Tony Gwynn threw out the last pitch to Bruce Bochy. Mike Darr tragically died during spring training and Gary Matthews Jr. and Phil Nevin carried his son off the field on their shoulders. Ah memories!

I forgot
about Boch being ejected. HAHA That was an awesome game. Don’t forget the cool Qualcomm Stadium ticket holders that were given out too.
This was during the darker days
when I was angry at the Padres. We’re better now.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

uh oh
nostalgia…
DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

Muser goofed up again
As If putting up with Muser’s incompetence as a Royals manager from 1997-2002 wasn’t bad enough, I was here at this game when Muser took over for Bochy on the Padres’ bench.
Muser intentionally walked Todd Helton in his last at-bat when Helton needed a hit to win the batting title. I was close enough to see Helton say to the catcher, “C’mon, I’m trying to win a batting title here!”
Two Memories stand out
One is when Nevin took Darr’s son out to RF…got a little misty.
Second was when they tried to get homeplate dug up…and it obviously was a lot harder than they thought since it seem to take forever and they struggle for awhile. Kind of anticlimactic.

My Favorite Part
Is the Chargers/Raiders game going into overtime. Wasn’t that the game where LT ended it on a run up the middle and the Black Hole through beer and trash at him and he was just loving it?
