I hate the A's

so I’m happy to hear this.

Really?

I think we have to see how those guys we got work out. Looks like it will work out in our favor, but to already we smoked them is premature.

Seriously

I don’t understand this at all. So Hairston has sucked at Oakland this year. In a dismal park on a dismal roster. Until we see any of these guys that arrived in return, the argument seems pointless.

Drama is an a-hole.

Dismal park, dismal roster

Just in Oakland?

Look at it like this: One warm body that was going to vanish at the end of the season was exchanged for three warm bodies, one of which is valuable at least in name alone, which could, in theory, be exchanged again in the future for even more warm bodies. It also wasn’t any secret that the Padres aren’t going to pick up anyone heading to arbitration, so whoever is worthy can be had in the offseason. What is it about Scott Hairston that Billy Beane had to have him right then and there, that he had to give up three warm bodies to get him?

If nothing else, by 2020, we will have established an excellent blood bank.

Going to vanish at the end of the season?

I don’t understand what you mean. He’s under team control for 2 more years. The only way he was going to vanish was if he traded him, which we did. I just don’t get what you mean.

they don't want to pay

he would have been jettisoned at season’s close, anything to avoid paying another outfielder, even if he was a better hitter than the current crop.

You NEED my affirmation!

I am agreeing with you completely.

We got three young power arms for career backup.

Another way of looking at it

Is we traded a somewhat mediocre arm in Leo Rosales who is just making his mark in the major leagues for 2 years of a guy who helped as make a run in 2007, plus 15+ years of pretty good pitching prospects.
