Here we are with the end of the season in sight and the last week of summer upon us. Soon the players will be golfing and hunting and we will be left with nothing but memories of the 2009 season. I can't wait. Hopefully the memories will fade quickly.
UPDATE: Padres also going for the 3000th franchise win today, who knew? Franchise Record (2,999 - 3,502)

Tonight's game will be fairly interesting.
It seems like it was 15 years ago that Ramon Vazquez was a Padre, and Morton would’ve been a Padre had the Peavy to the Braves trade gone down. I’m also interested to see McCutchen play.

I can't believe no one bothered to try and vote for Mike

Anyone else find it curious that TG Jr...
can’t bunt very well at all and has trouble getting reads on pitchers to steal a base. Yet he has no power and good speed. What’s he been working on the last 6 years ?

Well, that’s a ticket out of the majors…but wait a minute, he plays for his Dad’s former team in the more parochial towns you’ll ever witness…..3 more years as a Padre along with Edgar Gonzalez …why ? Forget pure performance, their cheap and people love them…..I found it interesting that nearly half of the Chula Vista little leaguers picked May 2009 waiver claimed Tony Gwynn Jr. as their favorite Padre…when I heard this I thought “that says it all —we are stuck with this guy for 2 more years now”.
