What sort of vodoo do the Rocks practice this time of year? It seems like they win 20 in a row every September.
Not to mention they won 16 in a row earlier this year
and like 19 or 20. It’s just amazing. They can suck for huge stretches, and then just flip a switch and suddenly get good.

Big start tonight for Stauffer, who has been pretty good in 7 starts, having not gone less than 5 innings or given up more than 3 earned runs in any of them.

unless something happens where he really starts improving, he can’t be our starting center fielder.
Dex, you were a bit pertubed w/me a month or so ago
and perhaps understandably so as I was a bit cranky one recent day and went on and on about how the Padres would be saddled with Gwynn for lot longer than they should because his last name was Gwynn. If this slump continues for Gwynn and the Padres brass decides that he is coming back again next year, irregardless of the fact that he can’t hit, is that qualify as a saddle job ?

If the Padres decide to bring him to Spring Training and he wins the job, then he wins the job. Like I said then, if this team can let the kinds of guys go that they’ve let go, then Tony Gwynn Jr only gets mild consideration for his name.
