Reason to keep the faith
Monday’s comeback win marked the fourth time this season the Padres won a game that they trailed entering the ninth inning, tying the highest such total in the major leagues, according to Elias Sports Bureau

Uncommon Sportsman :: Absurdity in play
This is highly amusing
considering last year, we didn’t win a game we trailed after 8 innings until July. Going into that month, we were something like 0-60 when trailing after 8.
This year, we seem to excel at beating up closers. We’ve even had some games we’ve lost, but came back from big deficits to tie in the 9th (Arizona, LA, I’m looking at you).

The same article is trying to suggest
that the Padres were pressured by Tate’s scholarship situation, but it seems to me that the fact that he’s a two-sport athlete would be very attractive to this ownership.

The only bad part
is that when Giles is even mentioned, it reminds Bud that he’s still on the team. If we could just stop mentioning him, Bud would totally forget that he was even still around.
Drama is an a-hole.

The article doesn't specify exactly when Gregg Olson (advance scout) started...
but just looking at the season splits is a good indicator of why it may have been incredibly stupid not to have had one the past few years…
Pre-All-Star Break — .233/.311/.370/.681
Post-All-Star Break — .267/.339/.427/.766
That’s a dramatic turn around.

My bro and I
will be attending one or two of the Padres-Rockies games in mid September. I’d like to have a beer and a jalapeno handshake with a ’baller, if anyone plans at being at any of these games…
"Get on board early," Black said, alluding to, what he feels, is a crop of up-and-coming players.
"I would tell those fans that we're going to play good baseball. We're going to play hard. We're going to have exciting young players..." -Bud Black
That's a possibility.
