An NL official said not to believe that San Diego closer Heath Bell is only available at an exorbitant price. "I think the Padres realize that this is the moment when you can get your best deal for (Bell). He gets expensive next year, and there is no reason to have an expensive closer on a bad team."

The Yankees are among the teams that have been interested in Bell. The addition of Bell would allow the Yanks to more comfortably move either Alfredo Aceves and/or Phil Hughes into the rotation if an injury struck the Yanks' suddenly thin rotation.

Vick can't throw, though.

He could cover some ground

He’s got a big arm and he’s at least as accurate as most of the RFs around the league. I’d say bat him leadoff and have him steal bases, but he’s probably too big for that to last.

I think the Padres would get ripped off in this deal. What about Heath Bell for Dwayne Wade? Or maybe Roger Federer. He seems like a good singles hitter.

Bell vs. Gonzalez...

If you are going to trade someone, Bell gets my vote. This Padre team needs hits every game yet may not need Bell’s closing ability but once a week.

If we trade Bell

how is anyone going to know where San Diego is?

If a trade with Anaheim happened

I’d want Trevor Reckling. At least.
