Latos likely to be called up by Padres
San Diego general manager Kevin Towers said late Monday that the Padres are "having internal discussions about the possibility" of purchasing Latos' contract, adding him to the 40-man roster and sticking him in the starting rotation.

Peavy ..
CY ..
Gallagher ..
Latos ..
I like that rotation ..
all we need is a 2B with a glove. I don’t even care if he hits.
Adrian, Glovey 2B, Cabrera, and I am guessing “Franchise” at 3B .. we are right back in business ..

They still need to shut him down soon
From a development standpoint, I’d like to see him thrown in the rotation for a 3-5 turns and see if he sinks or swims. If he swims, put him in the bullpen and limit his innings for the rest of the year so as to prevent injury. If he sinks, send him back down and still keep his innings limited then shut him down at a certain point (like when the minor league season is over).

Agreed
Not to mention he hasn’t even had a full year in the minors. I wanna see him too but I don’t want to destroy him to do it

I'm thinking
That this is why they are having “internal discussions” instead of just doing it. They are trying to define his role. They don’t want to handicap Buddy with a bunch of rules, but they also want to give the kid the challenge of pitching in the majors. It’s a fine line and nobody wants him to end up on the operating table because he was overworked.

because I want something to make me excited about watching this team.

I'm going to the game
So I’m down.
I’m just worrisome about giving this crap-ass team some pep with Latos at the expense of a future (hopefully) better team. But, maybe we can have both, if we don’t ruin everything.

But seriously
If they do it right, there’s no reason why this should mess up Latos’s future.
