And Khalil Greene and his anxiety disorder? The Cardinals apparently had no idea if Greene experienced this in San Diego before they made the move to trade for him. And part of that is due to a medical blackout. If a player has gone through any type of psychological testing or therapy, the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the players union and the owners prohibits the sharing of such information between the teams. In other words, if Greene had any psychological issues in San Diego, the Padres could not include that in any medical reports sent to the Cardinals. At that point, the Cardinals could have found out if someone with the Padres told them on a background, off-the-record basis. Or if, say, a Cardinals scout had gotten wind of Greene’s condition through a network of baseball sources.

Looks like the Padres may actually defeat the Cardinals at something.
Memo to baseball managers: You manufacture runs by NOT making outs, not by making them on purpose.

I get the feeling
that a quick call to Jake Peavy, or any of the Gaslamp Ball readers, would’ve cleared this right up.
Cardinals: “Have you noticed anything in Khalil’s personality that may effect his play?”
Peavy: “You mean the deaf kid?”

Right?
It was obvious to us… are we really that smart or are Cardinal fans that dumb to believe that story?
