Giles doesn't feel sorry for the Padres

Marty's Blog: Brian Giles Ponders His Future

"That’s what this organization signed me to. Like I said, I can’t feel sorry for them. Certainly I know organizations don’t feel sorry for players when things aren’t going well. It’s a contract. It’s not Indian- giving here where you give it, then three or four years ago and all of a sudden you want to take it back. It’s a contract they signed, it’s a contract I signed and I felt I’ve always honored all my contracts I’ve played under and I’ll honor this one."

He's right, the Padres are the ones that made the bad decision and they have to live with it. We have to live with it.  We don't have to like it though.  If I remember correctly Alderson said that the off season choice was between Giles and Hoffman.  He chose poorly.

Giles still wants to play next year and he knows it won't be with the Padres.  As far as the rest of the season goes, Marty asked him if he'd rather platoon with Tony Gwynn and Will Venable or make a clean break:

"Obviously it’s going to depend on the situation and I’ll just leave it at that. It’s one of those things that if it happens we’ll discuss it and I’ll make a decision based on what’s best for Brian Giles and I know baseball and organizations do what’s best for the organization so I’ll do what’s best for myself."

Good ol' Giles always looking out for himself.

What???

Is he out of his f**king mind??

“It’s not Indian-giving”??? Is he serious?

“I’ll make a decision based on what’s best for Brian Giles”??

HE SHOULD BE CUT NOW. NOT TOMORROW…NOT EVEN LATER TODAY. HE SHOULD BE CUT YESTERDAY.

What is with all the hate

Its not like when Brian Signed the deal, he thought his skills would go off the cliff’s edge. The padres had the option not to pick up the option. Contracts are contracts, good or bad both parties agree to them.

"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!"

Here's why all the hate:

We don’t need to hear his bullshit about “Indian-giving”. The Padres front office is evil…we all know that…but I strongly, strongly doubt anyone came to Brian and asked him to give the money back. Please.

And I’m going to do “what’s best for Brian Giles”??? He’s had a horseshit year and been hurt when he’s not striking out or grounding out to second or being accused of smacking around his former fiancee. You know what might be some real good advice for Brian to heed right about now? SHUT THE F**K UP. Just shut your mouth. Cash your checks. And leave quietly when they cut your ass.

And as for playing next season? Really? I didn’t know the Surf Dogs were still in business. Maybe he can get Marcus a spot too.

so you are upset that he spoke?

wow ..

Nevermind Giles is right, even if he is coming off selfish here, he is right.

And I doubt anybody asked him to give the money back, except the reporter … here it is ..

I asked him if he’d consider waiving that option.

Why should he Shut UP!! when asked a question like that? The reporter should be slapped for even asking something so dumb.
The reporter should be docked pay for failing in his job. Isn’t that what he is asking of Giles.

The phrase "Indian giving"

is highly offensive.

I don’t “feel sorry” for the Padres or Giles. Sh*t happens.

They are both big boys make a lot more money than me.

Marty

would nobody else talk to you? I don’t think there’s a single Padre fan that is/was wondering, “I wonder what Brian Giles thinks about this whole thing.”

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

i vote neither

DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.
