Who in the hell is a fan of the team’s budget?

well
if they use the money to help pay for Peavy this year or better yet in international draft signings, I would be happy.

Latos; 3 Runs = Touched up?
For most of our starters that’s a damn good outing, and lately for Gaudin or Young its called IMPOSSIBLE.

Agreed.
Really it was 2 ER with 12 K in 5.1 innings.

Call him up!
I think our starters refer to that as a “no-hitter”.

Turn around the whole pitching staff
Out; Gaudin as well (release or AAA)
in; Inman, Latos, Ramos (assuming Latos is ready, if not then bring in LeBlanc)
Let’s see what we have in these young pitchers (namely Inman/Ramos)

Inman?
Will Inman of 6.21 ERA in AAA?
That Inman?

Aye, Inman and LeBlanc have not exactly been lighting the world on fire
I don’t think they will rush Latos if they don’t have to. I think we might see him in September. Currently the team is out of it and rushing Latos up to get a couple of more wins is not going to help any. The team wiil still stink with or without him this year.

I think a deal that is starting to make more and more since
Is trading Adrain to Boston…
Before I get flamed hear me out.
Its looking less and less likely that Adrian will resign with the Padres (based upon budget and ballpark) and if the Padres can’t move Peavy this offseason then there will definitely be no money to sign Adrian to an extension.
The Red Sox have a ton of young pitching that can’t break into the big leagues because of the sox already stacked rotation. If the Padres could get Buchholz and Bowden from the sox along with a position player or two then it could really solidify their rotation for the next 5 to six years. The Padres can then bring up Latos to fill out the rotation and Blanks up to play 1B.

I dont entirely disagree
Its not so much a firesale because of money but because we don’t have anyone of real use approaching the bigs for at least two years (some of the guys in SA like Carassco might help, but the bulk of talent are at Ft Wayne and Lake Elsinore). And ironically 1B is the ONE AREA where we have a hot prospect ready to go, so it would weaken us but I don’t know if horribly.
Still I’d hate hate HAAATE to see Adrian go, even for a huge package.
I’m thinking though we could get Buchholz, Bowden, and at least three other players.
SP: Latos
SP: Buchholz
SP: Bowden
SP: Young
SP: PEavy -
Not bad

The Redsox would never do that
they might give us mirrabelli for A go though. I can’t see them trading for a 1b, and A go’s ego is way to big for Boston.

The Red Sox are looking for a 1B with a big bat
so they can move Yuke to 3B and Lowell to DH.
by Steve (Grey Suit) on Jun 17, 2009 11:55 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
But
They won’t give up Bowden and Buchholz to do it. Especially because one of their top prospects (Lars Anderson) is a 1B. If you use the Teixeira to Atl deal as a comparison you should expect a couple of young lowel level top prospects and a couple iffy high level prospects. Bowden and Buchholz are high level top prospects and those kind of prospects don’t get traded anymore, especially not by a team as smart as the Red Sox.

Salty was an iffy high level prospect?
Also the two low level guys are the Rangers #1 and #4 prospects in their system (which BA ranked as the #1 system in baseball). Also the sox would have Adrian under control for a full season longer than the Braves had control of Tex.
As far as Anderson is concerned I dont think that matters all that much because it looks like Big Papi is done so they will need a DH sometime in the near future.

Blast from the past
with the resigning of B-Law i say we just shoot for a like 2000 reunion team. Cant be worse than outr rotation now. We need to get that 2000 rotation back in tact:
Clement
Eaton
BLaw
Hitchcock
and Woody Williams

I liked Lawrence
but he needs a good SS and 2B behind him to be effective and we don’t have that. We have a 2B at SS and a midget at 2B, those guys can’t cover the ground that BLaw would need. But, if his sinker is biting I’d give him a try. Anyone who can keep their ERA below 5 is an improvement at this point.
