Jake Peavy's ankle is hurt

Peavy's ankle is hurt more than originally expected and he'll be missing a month or so.

You've seen or heard the news already. In this season of extremities, I fully expected Peavy to either get hurt and miss some time, or for him to grow a third arm and be able to throw 200 pitches in a game in back to back starts.

It was always one or the other for me. I guess I know which we've got.

Remember back in the day when Peavy's rib was busted and he pitched? And then there was the time when Peavy's retina was detached and he didn't tell anybody? Didn't it seem so much more quaint back then?

Here's the injury list, just because.

Who's takingt his place

Walter Silva?
Kevin Correia on short rests?
Pad Squad Carrie? (She should have some free time now)
Maybe we just don’t play with a pitcher every 5 games?

ideas?

Maybe Wilson

will still have a job when Cabrera comes back after all

Peavy's place

Looks like they made a paper transaction with Leblanc and could bring him right back in, what a waste of a week. They could always bring up Banks, looks like he’s throwing pretty well down there.

I think he hurt it too much last start

Go back and watch the last inning of his last start. In his last inning, the play where Adrian had to dive to tag the runner out: Jake tried to break toward 1st but look like an injured LT trying to make a cut. That’s when the training staff came out. I think he made it worse than it ever was with that push.

He never, ever

should have made the last two starts. Bad, bad moves.

One of those starts was a win

Since those seem pretty hard to come by, I’ll take it and not complain about it.

Memo to baseball managers: You manufacture runs by NOT making outs, not by making them on purpose.

Right?

The rest of the starting rotation can’t do it on two legs.
