Open Thread, 6/10: Padres vs Dodgers vs Beachballs
San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers, Jun 10, 2009 7:10 PM PDT
That's a lame beachball dig at the Dodgers. It's lame because it's all I've got.
Kevin Correia goes for us today on three days rest . The last insult to the injury of the 18th inning loss to the Diamondbacks. At least we'll be able to tell if Correia has the makeup to help out in a short series should the Padres make the playo-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man. I almost made it through the sentence without laughing.
By now you've had the chance to observe a couple of days worth of MLB Draft action. Thanks to Wonko and SD Steve for facilitating the whole thing.
I'm predicting a win tonight. I have no good reason for this prediction other than I feel it in my gut.

Not incredibly surprising

He just didn’t deserve as much money as the Dodgers gave him. The Dodgers also had a bevy of prospects coming up and the finances to get other hitters. So, he looks terrible because he causes the Dodgers a bevy of roster problems.

doesn’t do you much good if you can’t get your OBP above league average. He also gets CSed a lot more than he should.
I forgot the other reason he has looked terrible as a Dodger. He should never, ever, ever lead off. Ever. He will damage your run production if he does.

They saw something with Weaver that made it look possible. Chase does have a few steals. Martin threw that ball like it had a rocketpack on the back, though. That’s what really killed it.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

For some reason
Heath’s balls don’t get me as angry or anxious as Burke’s or Mujica’s.

Earlier
Pierre hit a liner that off the bat I figured was right at Headley. The crowd cheered and my first thought was, “Did Headley fall down or are they all idiots?”
