Neither Peavy nor Axelrod is actively lobbying for a trade. "You'll never hear me ask out of here," Peavy said

If Jake Becomes a Dodger
I’m publicly burning my Padres/Peavy t-shirt.

You can burn it with my Padres/Run Support t-shirt
It’s actually a half shirt. Made of mesh. Full of holes. And every time I try to find it in my closet: IT’S COMPLETELY EFFING UNFINDABLE.

Must be camouflage
But the Padres’ only excuse for their pathetic RISP AVG only happens on Sundays at home.

He’s not thinking “Oh God get me out of here and let me go someplace with some bleepin run support!!!”

Realistically....how could this actually happen?
To trade Peavy within the division, you’d have to assume that the Dodgers are going to overpay. Otherwise, I doubt KT is willing to do it if there are other teams we face FAR less often that are rumored to be interested (Cubs, Braves etc.).
To overpay for Peavy, the Dodgers would have to be in a situation where they’re teetering and Jake puts them over the hump…well, even when they fall off a bit from this pace, it’s looking more and more like they win the NL West in a walk, so why would they want to pay a premium to pry Jake from the Padres when there’s no real competition to speak of?
Sure, it’s always nice to have a true ‘ace’ around—especially in a short playoff series—but the Dodgers seem to be doing just fine with Billingsley, Kershaw etc. Kuroda will come off the DL, Wolf is fine for the back end, and if push comes to shove there are cheaper guys than Jake (though not as good) they could probably pick up at the deadline without having to give up anywhere NEAR as much (in both talent and cash).
I just don’t see this happening. Good for the Union-Trib to stir the pot a bit, though.

The only explanation for this article
Is that the mandatory waiting period for Peavy trade rumors has expired, and Sullivan has nothing else to say about the Padres, having exhausted every synonym for “suck” in his pocket thesaurus.
"2009 Padres.....Yeah, we're still here.

I heard on the radio today
that because of Manny’s contract structure, they actually have “only” around $3 million free and not nearly $8 million. That wouldn’t pay for Jake.
Also, if the apocalypse occurred and they traded Jake to the Dodgers, I wouldn’t take any deal that didn’t include Kershaw.
