A note about FanPosts
I had to do some moderatin' today. You may or may not have noticed.
Either way, just please be aware of items that you post or comment that could be interpreted as personal attacks. Use your best judgement. Don't take it bad if something gets moderated on. Feel free to ask me or jbox for clarification if you're not sure about something.
Thanks, yo.

Just so you know...
Today’s the day that I f_ckin’ saved Gaslamp Ball from being burned to the f_ckin’ ground. I was like f_ckin’ Charlie Wilson, behind the scenes today, defeating the tyranny that would destroy our freedoms. It was amazing.
Thank you, Mr. B.

man
one moderator ask someone to make a fanpost and then the other one deletes it….interesting comedy routine you two have but it may be too new age for me to get.

Dude i was
wondering where the fanpost went. Why the hell would Law care what we write on here? The traditional sports media hates us bloggers anyways and takes every opportunity to tell us that. Whether or not the email conversation was real, lets all remember that this is the f’ing internet and this is a PADRES BLOG. Seriously, Law, why do you give a shit? Kinda disappointed that dex and jbox caved under the pressure of “the worldwide leader in sports”.
I wish i could be flattered that Law posted here in the depths of the blogosphere, but that would mean his opinion means something within the sports community. He gets paid to do what Jbox and Dex for free and is only slightly less interesting. Please don’t take this as a personal attack, but a full fledged “writer” crying to a blog moderator is about the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard.
Feel free to edit any part of this besides:
Give me a f’ing break.
The man's got clout.
That’s all I’m at liberty to say.

it means we can only call you and WG idiots, not anyone from the world wide leader.

Some might say "That is f***ing bulls***."
Not me, but some. They don’t teach that language at WVU; that’s Ivy League talk.

Just like the post says
Though we obviously give a lot of leeway, we’ll intervene whenever someone feels like they’re being attacked or if there are accusations that can’t be substantiated. This goes for regular members of the community as well as anybody outside of the community who brings it to our attention.
The moral of the story: We’re always looking for good reasons to give Drama a hard time so don’t let him bully you.
Thanks...
…to Dex, for taking care of this so quickly.
The problem, for those of you who didn’t see the deleted thread, is that SDPads_1 posted some emails allegedly from me to him, but the words attributed to me were not mine. I never said, for example, “I don’t have time for your f——-g b———t;” Rick (that’s SDPads_1) added that phrase himself, and several others.
I don’t think I was out of line in asking the mods to remove the post, given the fabrications.
Mr. Keith Law
Keith you sound like a good guy, next time you are in Florida come over to Petco Park and I will buy you a mojito.

I like how
he thinks I’m Batman or something and is giving up my secret identity by announcing my name. It’s true everyone…..SDPads_1 is really Rick in real life!
How is this not green?

Seriously...it makes me question everything.
This should have just turned green on it’s own it’s so f**king funny.
Not a problem
Gaslamp Ball has a long history of being harsh towards to traditional media before eventually welcoming them in with open arms (Matt Vasgersian, Steve Quis, Bob Scanlan, Troy Johnson, John Weisbarth, etc.)
Keith Law probably does have a bit more work than those other guys though. Bitterness about the Worldwide Leader’s bias spreads far and deep. Maybe we as Gaslamp Ballers can extend that hand across the aisle so to speak and convince Keith Law that by giving mo’ better coverage towards the Padres, he’ll be satisfying a passionate fan base who he can be friends with rather than opposed to.
This is my dream.
There's a lesson we can all take from this.
And it’s that everyone thinks it’s interesting when Keith Law uses the F-word. Mr. Law, may I humbly suggest you incorporate it into Insider pieces? e.g.:
“Jorge Cantu is a F_____ Marlin.”
“Well, Bob from Staten Island, I think the numbers show that Disneyland is in F______.”
“Where are all the F_______ chicks in this club?” (good to use in Miami or Orlando)
etc.
Drama is an a-hole.

HOORAY FOR ESPN!!!
Thank you Mr. Law for clearing up so much. You are both a scholar and a gentleman and apparently would never use such language towards anyone. I would like to stick out an olive branch of peace from Padre fans to ESPN employees.
Let me apologize for….
A)There is no section under your ESPN contract that states that you cannot talk about the Padres
B)You never underrated Adrian Gonzalez
C)If in your eyes both A & B are considered personal insults then I apologize
D)I guess not all words are considered curse words to everyone so once again maybe a curse word to myself is not a curse word to you and I apologize for saying you cursed at me
E)I apologize for defending all the people a certain major sports writer called “liars” who posted replies stating similar claims.
F)I won’t bid on this auction and make you go to a Beavers, Missions or Storm game like I said I was going to do
Once again I sincerely apologize for all that transpired. Most Harvard grads would obviously never act that way and I commend you for asking the mods to remove the post.
Yes, he did.
And I can prove it with a screen cap of the actual messages.
Really? How?
I think it’d be funny for my grandma’s Christmas emails.
Drama is an a-hole.

I mean, I didn’t actually see it. But I’m just assuming, based on your body of work, that it was.
by Winfield's Ghost on May 28, 2009 6:28 AM PDT up reply actions
Is this in reference to the Keith Law thing that's not around?
I assume so.
If so, I missed the drama (lower case). But as I was going to say earlier:
I think we need to get over our small market, ESPN-hates-us, victimization complex. And, you know, perhaps win a World Series or two before we worry about what John Kruk or Karl Ravech has to say about our favorite team. (side note: You must listen to what those people say about other teams— do you really want to hear uninformed opinions about something all of us know more about?)
People know who the Chargers are. They (generally) respect them. I know football is far more popular in general, but I think the Padres need to prove something on the field before we as fans can whine much more about people not talking about us. Plus it’s kinda annoying, especially since we’re all so funny and easygoing in general (except Winfield’s Ghost, who is neither).
For me, I honestly don’t care what ESPN says or doesn’t say about the Pads. Plus MLB Network is doing a great job of showing me highlights and cutting live to the games, which is what I want as a fan in exile.

Disagree completely
Is asking for equal time for all teams too much to ask? Why is a Boston fan more important than a San Diego fan? If espn only wants to cater to large markets then so be it. But i don’t think calling a spade a spade (bias) makes us seem butt hurt or implies that we have a complex. Its not just San Diego that feels this way.
Let me ask you this, what have the Cubs proven on the field to warrant their nightly 5 minute block? The Marlins seem to prove shit year after year but they’re lucky if they get a mention.
Yes, we will survive without their validation, but don’t fault us for trying to pour gasoline on whats left of their MLB viewership. Whats the harm in calling them a douchbag microphone if all they do is yell about douchbags?
I think all that's valid.
And I do agree that there is a bias, although I think it’s clear that’s for geographic/business reasons. Hence dumbass websites like ChicagoESPN.com or whatever.
ESPN/ABC/Disney/Satan sells commercials during Baseball Tonight. If they keep the NY/Boston/LA/Chicago fans tuned in, they can pay Chris Berman. Because he’s that awesome.
On the other hand, MLB Network has a vested interest in getting all fans pumped for their teams. If ESPN talks about our team now, it’s in the same breath as the Nats. They did the same thing to the Rays, and then the Rays went to the World Series. With a good team. Then when spring training came around, all the self-proclaimed “old school” baseball analysts loved them for their “gritty” defense blah blah blah.
So I’m not saying asking for equal time is wrong…I guess I’m just saying I want this team to win a lot more than I care about what ESPN tells fans at large. When the Padres win the WS (they will, trust me, I just killed a goat), will all the people that heard about them on ESPN care? No. Hell no. Padre fans will care.
Drama is an a-hole.
He got it removed
