Why the Padres Should Trade Adrian Gonzalez :: Friar Forecast
Analyzing trading Adrian. If nothing else it seems that we're in a better position to replace Adrian with Blanks / Dykstra compared to trying to replace Peavy since we have little high end pitching prospects.

This is great.
But no one likes me when I say the Padres should trade their best player away when he is in his prime and another team could benifet from having them, hence giving the Padres a boatload of prospects. For reference, I was looking at Teixera. Gonzalez has the same or even more power as Teixera, but less average. He got traded to the Braves for a great deal of prospects. I can imagine that the Padres could get maybe 5-10 good/okay prospects for Adrian Gonzalez. Not as a plus, but Adrian is going to hit 45hr at least this year. I say let a player go who will get us 4 more wins and build for the future. If we can deal Gonzalez and Peavy, our farm system will be renergized and full of fresh talent.
Rebuild and Restock.

Blasphemer!
Thou shalt not bring cold logic into the game of baseball, particularly not when discussing my Padres. Agon was born and bred a Padre, and should remain so throughout his career. I know that that is unrealistic, given the realities of professional baseball, but let us have our dreams that there can once again be a career-type franchise player for the Padres.
Now, for thy penance, thou shalt say 3141 Hail Tonys and serve as usher to the cheap seats for 19 home games.
"2009 Padres.....Yeah, we're still here.
