Khalil battling "an anxiety kind of thing"
Teammates noticed Greene punishing himself during the season's first road trip. When one Cardinal player approached Greene in the Wrigley Field dugout to ask what he was doing, Greene responded of his frustration, "It's the only way I can get it out." Last weekend Greene left PNC Park in Pittsburgh with one hand bleeding. He had not sought treatment from the team's training staff. One person in uniform described Greene's struggle as "scary."
La Russa is putting him in more of a utility role in order to take some pressure off him. The club suggested he seek some professional help for his anxiety and he has agreed. It sounds hopeful that he has been very honest about his condition and he is not trying to deny or hide it.
Pujols has struck up a friendship with Khalil and they've become batting practice partners.
"It's about trying to find a balance, about not being too hard on myself and being able to let it go sometimes."
I wonder if the Padres had any idea that Khalil was going through these troubles when he was with the team. Most fans probably thought there was something different about him but we were always told that he was just quiet. I hope he gets the help he needs.

I wonder how much longer he'll even be in St. Louis.
Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe reported yesterday that St. Louis is looking to deal him elsewhere…possibly to the Red Sox.
The Cardinals are shopping Khalil Greene, and have inquired with the Sox about their interest. Greene is hitting .210 with two homers and 14 RBIs and has committed six errors. Bobby Crosby is hovering around .200 in Oakland. Are either the answer? The Sox appear to have enough offense that obtaining a defensive specialist could tide them over.

i'm really glad
they suggested getting help and that he’s going to do it. hopefully that fixes it. And I really hope the problem wasn’t as obvious when he was here, because it would be terrible to find out they knew about it and didn’t confront him.

Now it is really interesting
about that broken hand last year. I remember an interview with Sandy on XX where he inferred that the injury may have been self-inflicted and that’s why they were going after Khalil’s salary for the rest of the year. Really makes me wonder how much the Padres knew about this.

I would be really disgusted if it came out that the Padres were aware of Khalil's problem
and did nothing to help him. But Khalil did say the hand injury in July had nothing to do with what he’s dealing with now. So it could be that the Padres are just cheap.

It was obviously self inflicted
the reason he did it is the real issue. At the time it was thought that he was just having a temper tantrum. The things he’s doing now are obviously psychological.

The article
says that he has been working with Pujols in the batting cages and they’ve actually become locker room buddies. Hopefully some lessons from The Machine" can help him get some success at the plate.

This is BS...
for all the people saying “ohh if the Padres knew about it then that’s messed up”. Did you guys ever think maybe they were trying to deal with it in house if it was going on while he was here? Maybe talking it to the media isn’t the best idea. It’s amazing how the Padres front office is portrayed as evil people all the time by certain people on here.

Pujols
is the perfect guy to work with him. He’s a ballplayer that actually cares about people, not just baseball. Godspeed!

I think Albert Pujols is many bad things that I won't say here.
Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

I can see it being helpful to Khalil in a couple of ways...
First, this Pujols guy is pretty good at baseball and might teach him a thing or two about being good at baseball and secondly, it might help his psyche in that “Hey, this guy’s a big effin’ deal and he wants to help me. I’m a good person and people care about me” kind of way.
