With the Padres in turmoil, no one knows what is going to happen next. Jody Gerut just was dealt to the Brewers for Tony Gwynn Jr. But who else will be dealt? Here I have made semi-okay predictions to what players will be dealt and what they will give to the Padres.
Jake Peavy - There are many teams that are trying to get Peavy. Because he is not on his contract year, the Padres might be screwed out of 1-3 players. Peavy wants to stay in the National League, and if possible, the west coast. I see him getting the Padres 3-6 good prospects or 2 phenoms.
Adrian Gonzalez - He is leading baseball in homers right now. If you look at his stats, he has 15HR and only 29RBI. The starved-for-runs Padre lineup doesn't give him many spots to drive in mass amounts of runs. I don't really see the Padres dealing him with his low-cost contract and the part that he is one of the cornerstones in the Padres rebuilding. But if the Padres went to deal him, I see him getting the Padres 3-4 good prospects.
Brain Giles - Giles is one of the long lasting outfielders. He doesnt produce like he used to, but he still is a stick. The Padres renewed his $9 Million option. That means they are committed to his stick or that they will be able to get a big load of prospects for him. He isn't the best stick around, so I don't see him going anywhere until the July 31st Deadline when a team is desperate for a lefthanded bat in there order. So only if its on the deadline, the Padres won't be able to deal him. I see maybe 1-2 good prospects for the Padres if they can deal Giles.
Who do you think the Padres might deal to cut their payroll a little more. Can the Padres get a good minor league output if they deal some of their high-payed, veteran players? Tell me what you think.
