Bench Giles

Not all the time of course. I think they need to give Giles the day off against certain lefties.

1. The guy is long in the tooth and needs some rest here and there to avoid an injury.
2. He looks lost hitting against lefties this year.

I would like to see them start Gerut against a lefty here and there, give Jody a shot!

Tonight against Kershaw would be a great opportunity to rest Giles.

Did anyone hear the caller on last night’s postgame show who talked to Coach K about Giles’ legal troubles? and basically questioning how anyone still supports the guy?

because Kentara sounded like an idiot? Or because you think the whole situ is funny?

Personally, I don’t think it’s funny. I know that some women claim men do things that they never do, but this guy was on tape! I don’t see any humor in this myself.

I thought it was crazy that Kentara defended Giles. I cheer for Giles cause he’s a Padre. As a person he’s just some guy that hits women. If he wasn’t playing baseball I doubt he is a person anyone would admit they associate with.

Giles could have made this go away, but he didn’t and Kentara is defending it. Sad state of affairs on both parts.

He's just a tool all around...

in life and his profession…is there any doubt he juiced his way out of mediocrity? He’s lucky he can lay off the bad pitches otherwise he just would have sucked the last couple years.

I think

People need to separate ATHLETE from ROLE MODEL. Being a good person is not a requirement for playing sports professionally. They are not mutually inclusive.

They play sports for our entertainment. Once you are able to separate the playing field from the tabloid gossip, you are able to cheer for players like Giles without conflicting feelings. Leave all of the National Enquirer BS at the ticket turnstiles and just watch the sport.

Also, If you hate Giles (for reasons other than his BA) but root for Kobe like most people i know… you’re an idiot.

i see what your saying

but I don’t agree with it completely. No one is saying anything about role models. More like Anti-role models. Some athletes are role models, some are just guys that have nothing more than a HS education but an incredible physical skill.

I’m not sure how you decide on your examples but I think you are on the boarder of comparing fire and ice.

tabloid gossip v. real life court issues are much different.
People talking junk about you v. going in front of a judge? way different?

Kobe, caught cheating on his wife. Public apology, years worth of PR to get his image back and a model citizen in the LA area v. Giles who was caught on tape grabbing his girl by the hair and throwing her to the ground. Giles, seen beating his girl in front of his kids……Giles still denying these accusations and you bring up Kobe?

If your comparing having an affair and beating women, then you sir are an idiot. Are you going to say that all crimes are the same?? Michael Vick is the same as guy dumping oil in his back yard? Their are degrees to this and you trying to clump kobe in with Giles is a crock of sh!t.

Maybe you should compare Jason Kidd, who actually did beat his wife with an iron to the face even.
Jim brown, beat his wife and threatned to go OJ on her.

Even Warren Moon hit his wife.

The difference between guys like Giles and Moon, is that Moon got help and made it a mission to give more to the community. Giles just ignores it and keeps hitting weak ground balls to 1B.

Giles Hitting

Brian can hit women better then nl pitching. Maybe he should be send down to a girls softball league till he starts hitting again. That way he can plenty of hitting in he will be surrounded by women

That’s not only cold that’s just pathetic as a statement.

Look I care what he does on the field, I don’t care about his private matter because the courts can sort that crap out. He hasn’t been playing well. We all knew sooner or later it was going to be the end of the line, and I wonder if its fully physical or part of its mental as well. Either way as a ballplayer you can’t stick if you can’t produce. Giles deserves more time to prove he can right the ship but if by June/Mid June he’s not improving, might be time to bid him farewell and bring up Venerable
