Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Best. Game. Of. The. Season. So far. PADRES 4, DODGERS 3!!!

Here's the new ranking.

#1 Game 4
#2 Game 2
#3 Game 3
#4 Game 1

That's right. That was the best game of the year so far. Sure it's a young season. Sure it only brings us to .500, but this Dodger team is supposed to win this division walking away and we split with them and kept the losses close.

My favorite player today is David Eckstein. I want to wrap him up in a Snuggie and then dip him in tzatsiki and eat him up like a pita.

My favorite Patron Saint of Baseball is the Patron Saint of GIDP, who blessed our game today.

I haven't had a chance to review all the comments so I (or jbox) will put favorites up later.

I like

That Correia pitched a good game. Also I liked that we were able to break through against their bullpen.

I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Philip Rivers fan.

Keep in mind

These are Petco games. I wouldn’t say that I’m encouraged by the performances. But I’m not discouraged.

Good thing we play half our games at Petco then.

All I see

Is that we paid a lot less for our 2 wins than the Yankees did for their 1 win.

Anybody else going to opening night

tonight in Lake Elsinore? Thirsty Thursday! If the Pads sold beer for $1 I’d be at every Thursday home game. Instead I will drink with the Storm.

I would

Still on track for a 4-3 homestand

Got the split we hoped for. Great to see a come from behind win. Now we’re looking to win the series against the NorCal Giants. Go Padres!

Best Season Ever.

Dude with the SD hat on an MLB commercial says this is going to be the Best Season Ever. I propose this be the 2009 slogan since we don’t seem to have one.

Dex

are you going to rank the games all season? I think you should.

DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

by LJbumfool on Apr 9, 2009 6:25 PM PDT reply actions

that's my goal

It feels a little ridiculous right now, but within a few months we’ll be trying to figure out if a game is the 53rd or 54th game of the season and that’s when it’ll become really crazy.

well look at that.

a win :)

3 comebacks

3 days in a row. I can’t count how many times they got behind and showed no spunk after that last year.

Pitching was pretty good this series

but that may have been the Petco effect. Actually it probably was. Am I being too pessimistic?

I'm not so sure.

I don’t recall seeing a lot of long fly balls that would have been homeruns in other parks.

Are you listening?

I’m not terribly fond of Rich Burke, the announcer, but it is cool to hear the Beavs games on radio once in a while. Or maybe you just popped in over at MiLB.com and checked out the Gameday.

Did you catch the Fort Wayne box score

The pitchers put a massive beatdown on the Lansing Lugnuts.

In fact, out of the 5 Padres teams that played today, only 1 lost (Lake Elsinore lost, but against a major league pitcher, Max Scherzer, who was rehabbing).

Anybody post this quote already?
The NL West has to realize that the Padres, we might not be the biggest names, or you might not know who we are, but we came to play and we’re going to battle you all nine innings, every single day.

- our closer said that

he's also still plugging his new theme song

“Bell also cracked that he was more interested in "blowing away Manny’s bat" than again posting three strikeouts”. -from today’s U-T (btw how did you get the fancy blue box around your quote)?
