Moorad is a smooth talker. I'd draft Matt Bush from him.

What did he say (part II)

I read the Moraad chat twice. Did he say anything???
It seems all obvious with little or no content at all

You missed some things, apparently
MelvinNieves: I’ve seen reports that depending on the team’s success, there is room in the payroll for the Padres to be buyers midseason. Assuming this is true, how close to contention would you want to be before pulling the trigger to add salary?

j_moorad: Within striking range — if the deadline was upon us today, we’d be open to adding an appropriate player or two.

Nobody said that before. Try that on: “2009 Padres – looking to add at the deadline”

riarfansince1978: What can be done about lifting the local area blackout on any and all live coverage to the 17 percent of San Diego County that is not serviced by Cox cable or are dependent upon satellite for our telecommunications?

j_moorad: I’m a huge proponent of letting our fan base receive our signal (whether radio or TV) and will do everything I can to allow that to happen.

And Randy Jones made him eat his massive weiner.

Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? ◔ヮ◔

I think

that we can easily be within 5 games or so at the deadline. To me, that’s striking distance.

If Jake and CY get back to being Jake and CY, I’d even go as far as to say that it’s more likely than not we’ll be that close.

If Gaudin and Geer can be dependable starters that can give us 6-7 innings per start, then it’s even more likely.

I really think that if our starters can go deeper into games, our bullpen would be a lot better because they’d be far less exposed and have a lot less pressure on them.

He trims his own beard... no further questions!
dajman_007: I assume from your picture off to the side that there won’t be a “clean-shaven” rule in the clubhouse anytime soon?

j_moorad: Not by me.

j_moorad: Although I do trim…

Well, that much we could gather

But, the mystery remains about how…
