Spring Training Game Thread: 4/3, Padres vs. Angels

Ah, back at Petco Park.  Hopefully most of you will be at the game.  I'll be watching on TV.  Looks a little too damp and cold out there for me, bring your sweaters.

Heard a bit of Peavy talking on XX Sports Radio today, that guy has a career in the booth waiting for him when his baseball career is over.  That dude can talk.  He does a pretty good job putting a positive spin on things and every once in awhile I start believing that he really wants to play for the Padres.  I'm very cautious though, I don't want to get my heart broken.

Go Pads!

I just saw that

My guess is that those stats build up throughout the season, and thier AI isn’t trained yet, or the page is just totally buggy

But then again, they should be able to just use previous stats…

Funny yeah, but if they make it work, that would be cool

by Drama on Apr 3, 2009 8:46 PM PDT reply actions

At least

Petco looks nice. A few years ago the argument was “if we get a new stadium, we get more attendance and if we get more attendance, we get a bigger payroll.” That worked out well. Being a Padres fan is the same as being a Washington Generals fan. Except they have a bigger payroll.

Gregerson, 1-2-3, lotsa strikes, Gret job!

Looks like our bullpen is inexperienced, but has upside

Whereas our Rotation (behind PV & Young) has some experience, but not much upside

Which will perform better?

by TJB on Apr 3, 2009 8:48 PM PDT reply actions

which is better: dying of cancer or getting hit by a bus?

I think its good for us

In a ‘rebuilding’ year, you can afford to use a roster spot with this guy, hope he matures, and who knows, maybe next year he’s starting.

Trade?

No one is going to give up anything for him. But he does take up a 40 man roster space. Give put him outright waivers to get off the 40 man.

AccuScore projections

Out of 10,000 season simulations, the Padres:

won the division 8.6%
made the playoffs 13%
won their first round series 4.8%
won the National League 1.6%
World Series Champions 0.5%

so there’s a 50/10,000 chance the Padres can be world champions. Puncher’s chance!
