Matty V's "regrettably horrific timing" strikes again.

During coverage of the Brad Hawpe injury on the MLB Network last night, Matt Vasgersian attempted to lighten the mood a bit and failed miserably

Deadspin has the full write-up.

For those, who can't watch/hear the clip: Vasgersian went back to the tape to point out that one of the EMTs looked like Donovan McNabb. (He looks nothing like Donovan McNabb.) His "quip" was met with stunned silence from his broadcast partners and an in-ear reminder from his producer, "You know we're live, right?"

For the record, Matty V. has apologized today.

“I am an idiot .. Save the racial stuff which is just flat out wrong, almost all of what has been posted on my regrettably horrific timing is spot on .. It was a bad decision made on live tv and i can absolutely understand how that make an announcer sound insensitive. Bad on the spot judgment. Nobody feels worse about it than I do guys.”

I'm sure Mark Neely is checking the internet every couple of minutes praying that Matty hasn't resigned or been fired.

Ok

There is some slight resemblance to Mcnabb.

I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Philip Rivers fan.

Agreed.

But still…really poor timing for a look-a-like joke.

Maybe he's trying to get himself fired

So he can come home to San Diego.

I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Philip Rivers fan.

This is karma

for all those times when him and mud did the celebrity look alike bit on ch4. They spent about 10 minutes a game on that including cutaways to the fan that was the lookalike. Keep it somewhat baseball related!

If it wasn’t for his amazing St. Louis bashing rant (ozarks,el caminos) I probably would dislike him. I know I’m in the minority here so theres no need to throw insults around.

The guy does look like Donovan Mcnabb.
