Around the Mission: Padres Links 4/21
- I added a "Help Guide" Widget to the left hand tool bar. If you're new to the site or really suck at making FanShots and Posting Pictures go read the tutorials. I'm going to add some tutorials that other sites created soon.
- The rainout yesterday gave the Padres some extra rest, it didn't heal Cabrera's hand though.
- "Towers said second baseman David Eckstein was not considered an option to spell Rodriguez at shortstop. Eckstein has spent most of his eight-year career as a shortstop, but he signed with the Padres over the offseason specifically because the club wanted him to play his natural position, second base."
- Demetri Martin to play Paul DePodesta in Moneyball (HT: 'eaters)
- Blogger Kaybee was hoping the Padres would get Marcus Giles to play short stop.
- Peavy vs. Cain tonight in San Francisco.
- Pad Squad Carrie was interviewed and she has no regrets. "Yes, but I have no regrets about answering honestly. He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him." She celebrated by eating a hamburger after the event.
[Note by jbox, 04/21/09 2:59 PM PDT ]
- Chris Ello would prefer to keep Pad Squad Carrie over Peavy if things turn bad this season: "if this season turns out the way most expect it eventually will and the Padres are an also-ran by August...I'd rather watch Carrie chuck T-Shirts in a half-empty ballpark than watch Peavy chuck and duck."
- I feel like I'm really tempting people to get into a political debate by posting all this Pad Squad Carrie stuff, but here's a link to a video of her on
Good Morning AmericaToday Show with Matt Lauer. Here's another video interview where she responds to being called the "B" and "C" word.

Respect for Pad Squad Carrie!
She represented well. Wish she would have given a shout out to Gaslamp in her interview!

"I have no regrets about answering [judge Perez Hilton] honestly," she said in one of her first interviews following the show
What do you think really went between those brackets? “Him” or “That little ferret” or “That sanctimonious P****”?
"2009 Padres.....Yeah, we're still here.

Peavy v. Cain?
Oh lord! If you’re a purist, this is the game to watch. I’m gonna love watching this pitching duel. Over/Under on number of total runs produced by both teams.
The number? Hmmm. Let’s go with: 4
“I’m takin the under.”
Padres hammer Cain.
My prediction.

Isn't it wishfulthinking that created it?

Good to have the Padres back at it
So much for paying attention in my late class, not that I do it anyway ;)
My prediction: pain…..for cain (i know). I wanna see the pads take another sweep from the Giants
And I still maintain Perez Hilton is a sad little punk who wants people to agree with everything he says and throws a pathetic little hissy fit because someone disagrees with him. Hilton couldn’t shine Carrie’s shoes on his best day.
you have to wonder how he got chosen as a judge.
qualifications include sharing a name with another person who does nothing to be famous and the ability to call the very people he is supposed to be judging impartially inappropriate names.

Well, luckily,
I really could not care less what Perez Hilton or Carrie think about anything. So I think I win this debate.

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.”
