Padres reacquire Chris Burke

I don't know how to feel about the Padres reacquiring Chris Burke from the Mariners. On the one hand, Burke certainly does fill that utility role that we need now that Cabrera's down for at least a 60-day.

On the other hand, it's Chris Burke.

I mean... You know. Do what you will. I won't question decisions too much while we're in the middle of the Best. Season. Evar.

Was hoping for Blummer.

Blummer would be nice

I don’t know who else Padres could get though . . . and the system seems to be a black hole for SS

Winfield goes back to the wall. He hits his head on the wall -- and it rolls off! It's rolling all the way back to second base! This is a terrible thing for the Padres. - Jerry Coleman

Blummer

He’s the starting 3B for the Astros. They can’t exactly afford to part with him currently.

If I didn't know better it sounds like a mini-conspiracy

Padres: Hey look, Mariners, we see you’ve got an extra roster spot and we don’t have room for this Burke guy. So you give us some cash and take him off our hands. After the season starts and we’ve already made a good show of our rule 5 kid playing in the bigs, he’ll “break” his wrist and you can give us Burke back and we’ll give you your money back.

Mariners: What’s in it for us. We’re your fricking rivals!

Padres: Do what I say or we’ll unleash the Swinging friar on that stupid moose of yours. Or better yet, we’ll put the Moose on a boat in the middle of the ocean and see what the f**** he has to do with being a Mariner.
