Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

The Padres fear that rookie shortstop Everth Cabrera will miss up to two months because of hand injury suffered today in 5-4 loss to the Phillies.

This sucks

Who on earth could we call up?

If we call up a middle infielder, it will probably be Sean Kazmar, he played last year.

this is

FVCK!NG FANTASTIC NEWS

DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

That’s terrible news.

REALLY?

REALLLLLLLLLLY? UNREAL.

I want to thank the good Lord for making me a Philip Rivers fan.

The guy hardly played

But he did have that Rule 5 cache; it would have been fun watching him for the next few months to see if the Padres hit the jackpot with him. I really wanted to see a Padre who could add some raw excitement on the base paths. But while Cabrera has been getting a lot of press for doing very little, Luis Rodriguez has been quietly contributing. Rodriguez isn’t a potential jackpot, he’s a little too old for that, but he sure is getting the job done.

Bet they keep him on the 25-man roster

He was showing such potential at SS that if we let him slip through the cracks, we’d never get such a steal again. We’re screwed at SS, even with Luis, due to the lack of star potential in the minors.

Viva la hysteria!

Cabrera played well in limited time.

I still see him as our future SS.

Speed doesn't slump

But apparently it gets hurt like everyone else. What is wrong with our shortstops, why can’t they stay healthy?

I would have been nice to have a solid back-up plan

like a Denker or Burke waiting in the wings. I knew DFA-ing Denker would come back to bite us. The only silver lining I see is we can 60 day DL Cabrera and increase the chances of keeping him for the entire season.

TBD

Blessing in disguise?

So that means they’ll get to stash him on the DL and then a minor league rehab for about 3 months. This isn’t all that horrible of news.

I agree

Eck can play SS if need be and E-Gon can fill in at 2B. The Padres were going to have to make a move to re-activate Cliff Floyd anyways. Also it would not surprise me if they send Geer back down today and bring up Macias or Kevin Howard before today’s game.

That's very sad

He was making good progress and he was working hard. Sucks that he might lose two months

Ok now I'm bummed about it

Just heard Andy Masur on 1090 saying Ecab was real broken up about it and LRod had to console him and remind him it’s only a couple months and he’ll be back. Poor kid.
