I don't want to say that these last two games are gravy, but when you're a week into a road trip against the defending world champs in their own house and you've already ensured a split of the series... Well, you know.
Here's the lineup. Do whatever it is you people normally do when you see such a thing:

Headley looks very confident now
A week and a half ago I was writing on this blog how confused Chase Headley looked at the plate. My concern was fleeting – Headley looks like he belongs ! What a huge boost to the offense this is.
Also, I thought that Headley’s two walks (after working the count) last night was yet another watershed moment – if Headley even becomes somewhat selective it will open up his offensive potential, Eckstein’s super selectivity at the plate seems infectious…heck, even Kouzmanoff is working the count a bit…how much of this early success shall we attribute to Hitting Coach Jim Lefebrve’s approach ?
Edgar and Everth getting the spot starts.

I spent the first 2 months of 2007 as the only voice defending Kouz. Everyone was ready to throw him to the dogs, then he turned it around and kicked absolutely hiney, and suddenly everyone as saying how they always knew he’d be great…. How soon they forget.

He's having fun
His travel call team went to Las Vegas last weekend and won a tournament in the Majors level 12u division. His pop warner team is always near the top of their competition. The down side is that since he’s in 7th grade, he’s only got one more season with each before the uber competitive Torrey Pines high school kicks in. So, we will wistfully enjoy his final year and hope he grows enough to compete at the high school level.

The last few seasons have been stacked with guys with 20HR potential. Hopefully they cash in on all that potential this season.

Two weeks ago I couldn’t imagine being upset over losing to the Phillies because it might cost the Padres first place.
Tough one to swallow though when you think back on how many runners they left on base.

to maintain perspective. I shold be extra thankful for every win we get this season. but no matter what, when you blow a lead, its tough
DODGERS, RED SOX, YANKEES, BRONCOS, PATRIOTS and RAIDERS all suck. Especially the Dodgers.

I’m nervous that every time they lose they will suddenly realize that they were suppose to be terrible this year and revert back. Correia tomorrow against Moyer with the bullpen back.

The real victim of today's game
was Geer. If any of our starters deserve a win, this one outing guarantees he’s it. Poor guy. Truly unfair.

IMO, our bullpen is not deep
With Cla and the Heat unavailable, it made it almost impossible to not lose this game.
Again, IMO, we need a lefty specialist. And we need my Mikey back. :-(

My bully order
I’d go with Sanchez for the 6th, Gregerson for the 7th, Merdith for the 8th, and then Bell. Mujica and Moreno for cleanup work with the lead or behind by tons. Moreno will develop into an 8th inning guy if he can unwind a bit. He’s just been too high strung every time out.
