Trade brian Giles?
i think the padres should trade Giles for some starting pitching. i mean CY and Jake cant do it all. Walter silvia has been shaky. Hill could be ok, and Kevin Corriea is fine. but the padres need pitching. giles has been getting old and isnt as productive, we could move Scott or jody into right field so that we could have both their bats in the line up. we can Bring up Kyle blanks when hes ready and convert him like they did with chase.
` Whats everyones opinon on this.

Uh, good luck.
Right now his trade value is almost as low as possible due to his current inability to hit in games and his recently revealed propensity of emulating The Prodigy.
Oh, that and his 10/5 rights. Dang.

i wouldnt be surprised
if kouz and giles continue to suck they get traded to a winning team for pennies in return. That would obviously move Head back to third and open up the OF. Giles probably would decline a trade unless he really felt unwelcome anymore in SD….that’s not too far out of the question if we continue to play well. Revenue will rise and Giles’ 9mil won’t seem like such a hard pill (release him)…
It’s way too soon to assume they’re not going to hit well but….

Trade Brian Giles
I think you’re nuts, We need a hard nosed player like Brian. I am ure our younger players can learn alot from Brian. We need Brian to help develop our younger players. Besides Brian brings to the Padres what no other individual can bring.

Why ould anyone
trade for a guy who is so obviously over the hill? You know, last year I had to wonder about his ambition to win when he nixed a trade to Boston. But during the winter looking at his stats, I was kind of pulling for the Padres picking up his option. They did. And now it appears Bud Black and the front office are hoping Giles finds a magic youth pill. It would be nice for Padres fans if he could. But I think a more likely scenario is Giles getting hot, raising his avg to the Mendoza line and hovering right around there for the best part of the season.
In which case, the best we could hope for is Giles himself deciding to retire rather than be a really easy out in what otherwise has turned into a pretty damned good lineup.

No
Giles was one of the, if not the, most productive RF in baseball last season. Sure, he had a bad season in 2006. Every other year with the Padres he has been great. I don’t know how you can call him washed up yet. Over his career, April has been his worst month, he will be fine, if not great again. Obviously over the hill? Mendoza line? Not likely.

It's not that simple
Since giles is a 5/10 guy he has the ability to decline a trade. Couple that with the fact that he is getting 9million AND if traded gets an additional 2 million this season. What team is their right mind is going to trade for a guy that is 38 and hitting below the mendoza line.
I was all about trading him before last seasons deadline because his value was high and he wasn’t a 5/10, but the FO sat on their thumbs. Too late he’s here, hopefully he can turn it around and create a market for himself. It would be nice to move him to the A’s or Angels and get an arm in return. That won’t be for a couple months at the soonest.

Trade Brian Giles
Trade him for what??? Three bats and a glove. Im sure lots of clubs want to pay that price for a 158 hitter. We Will be lucky to win 60 games. The start of the season. Ill refer to that as a bj cause that the best we are going to see.

Trading Brian Giles & others
Sure would be nice to move a couple of players…Unfortuanately the ones the talk is all about are the most unproductive players at the moment…Brian Giles and Kooz…Maybe after a month or two or BEST case scenario is at the trade deadline they are BOTH productive again and the F.O can trade them for a shortstop and solid pitching…
Here is the line up I like:
Catcher: Hundley
First: Adrian
Second: Eckstein
Short: Edgar (short term fix…)
Third: Headley
Left: Blanks
Center: Hairston/Gerut Platoon
Right: Macias
Lets start getting the youth movement going and see what happens…theres my opinion Mr.Rogers…What do you think…
